LOCATION
This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with onsite requirements on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday preferred assigned to the Parnall Office located in Jackson, MI but other Consumers Energy Service Centers may be considered as well. The selected candidate must be located within a commutable distance OR willing to relocate (relocation package available to those who qualify).
GENERAL SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIESThe Manager Project Controls manages the operation of various Project Controls including Cost, Estimating and Scheduling, to deliver trustworthy data and analysis to improve project predictability, flexibility, transparency and competitiveness. Maintains quality through documented standard work and processes. Provides support to Project Management and reporting to management to identify risks and opportunities. This position will lead the Project Scheduling team for Gas Delivery projects and Clean Energy projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure all projects and programs under supervision are in compliance with cost and schedule standards and governance through timely issue escalation as appropriate Provide direct supervision, support and mentoring to the Project Controls teams, assess competencies and knowledge and provide leadership and coaching for growth and development of team members Focus on strategic thinking, plans and performance, cultural elements, safety and DE&I Lead continuous improvement strategies for Project Controls methodologies in order to optimize forecasting and execution predictability Measure the effectiveness of existing processes and use problem solving to develop sustainable and quantifiable process improvements Execute initiatives that focus on problem-solving, waste elimination and increased employee engagement for Project Controls. Support highly cross functional improvement efforts and operating reviews Communicate and apply Project Controls strategic objectives and assist in the implementation of plans to deliver annual BPD goals that ensure successful delivery of Project Controls functional disciplines Develop standard work and metrics to ensure team is delivering on target and mitigation plans for functional goals that are off target Responsible for managing highly skilled teams for the planning and execution of various project and program estimates, budgets, forecasts and schedules in order to ensure delivery of projects and programs within cost and schedule targets Other duties as assigned or may be necessary KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong knowledge and experience of project cost, schedule and estimating disciplines Knowledge in supporting and managing the use of robust project management standards framework and governance for life cycle management Demonstrated ability to establish strong rapport and credibility with business partners and cross functional organizations. Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in optimized collaboration efforts and influencing others Skilled at strategy development, workplan development and results oriented with a focus on oversight and control and accountability for results Analytical problem-solving ability and experience dealing with escalation issues and risk mitigation strategies Strong organization, analytical planning and prioritization skills and a demonstrated ability to assimilate information quickly and establish an optimized path forward EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business with four (4) or more years of experience managing teams as well as proven experience in project cost controls, schedule management, estimating or similar business area, and thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting finance and cost strategies and techniques and construction contracts (OR) Associates degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business with six (6) or more years of experience managing teams as well as proven experience in project cost controls, schedule management, estimating or similar business area, and thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting finance and cost strategies and techniques and construction contracts (OR) High School Diploma/GED with eight (8) or more years of experience managing teams as well as proven experience in project cost controls, schedule management, estimating or similar business area, and thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting finance and cost strategies and techniques and construction contracts
