As a Team Leader position, you will be leading a team providing strategy and support to delivery teams through estimating, procurement and management of the works contracts on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council, within the Buckinghamshire Highway Alliance. The commercial team help to deliver various portfolios of highway renewal and improvement works, embracing collaborative working and helping to drive efficiencies.
You will be responsible for both team strategy, procedures and line management, ensuring that your team help to deliver our schemes to programme, budget and to the highest quality standards and work integrated with design delivery and construction supervision teams as well as undertaking a Client facing role.
The role is based within the Buckinghamshire Highways Client office in Aylesbury.
Your purpose:
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee and lead a team of Quantity Surveyors/Estimators both locally in Bucks and within remote team within AtkinsRéalis Global Technology Centre. Your team will be integrated in and coordinate with portfolio delivery teams working on the Buckinghamshire Highways Framework.You will seek to deliver high quality performance to meet project goals and deadlines through managing and developing team, driving continuous improvement and innovation.Drive the commercial/procurement strategy and process to ensure best value is demonstrated to Buckinghamshire Highways Client. You will have day to day communication with Buckinghamshire Client as part of AtkinsRéalis Leadership team and prepare data and reports to timescales in a format required by line management and clients. Develop client relationships and provide an outstanding level of service delivery, in conjunction with senior management.You will have responsibility for a team delivering accurate Schedule of Rates and scheme estimates to succeed against Contract Key Performance Indicators.Delivery of the Procurement Documentation and Assessment for Bucks Highways Term Maintenance and Framework Contractors.Support the Construction NEC Project Manager & Supervision Team through provision of Quantity Surveying Services and managing the change control process through Term Maintenance and Framework CEMAR Contracts.Deliver the monthly Contractor application for payment process and final account including close liaison with Buckinghamshire Highways (Council) Finance leads.Build collaborative working relationships with Alliance Contractors.What you can bring:
A degree in quantity surveying and commercial management, equivalent discipline, or experience. Full member of relevant professional body and Chartered Status.You would bring previous experience managing contract packages from inception to final accounting including:Taking-off from working drawings, specifications, and walk-talk-build (WTB).Preparing cost estimate and comparison.Preparation of Contract Documents.Tender assessment.Proficient in NEC forms of contract and the application of Schedule of Rates (SoR), and Method of Measurement (MoM).Ability to work collaboratively and integrate into multi-disciplinary teams, with experience in highways works.Experienced in ability to negotiate with contractors.Experience of building and managing diverse engineering highways design teams.Excellent communication skills, with the proven ability to motivate, coach and develop team members at all levels (early careers, through to experienced).Why work for AtkinsRéalis?
