The Radiation Oncology Information Systems Manager will lead a team of digital professionals responsible for supporting and optimizing the complex and technologically advanced Radiation Oncology Departments at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital, associated regional campus sites and outside collaboration sites.


 

Job Summary

This pivotal role will oversee the management of ongoing operations and maintenance of applications and hardware critical to Radiation Oncology services. Working across technical, clinical and administrative teams, this role will provide expertise and support for optimization, maintenance, and resiliency of the technology and manage the team resources and vendor relationships to execute the work. Partnering with Radiation Oncology leadership across the joint program as well as the DFCI and MGB Digital teams, the role will participate in the planning and implementation of key technology-dependent initiatives following the MGB Digital policies and procedures.

A successful candidate will have prior management experience (minimum 5 years) and preferably have some prior experience and knowledge of radiation oncology. The candidate will also have proven successful experience in managing teams supporting complex, dynamic technology in a healthcare setting, provides timely and audience appropriate communication and coordination across all levels of the organization, and exhibits strong business acumen.

Working closely with the MGB Digital Radiation Oncology Director and the DFCI Digital Radiation Oncology Director the Manager will play a crucial leadership role in leading the team through the future strategic separation work of our joint program, focusing on the technology decoupling process, and helping inform a successful transition.

Additional expectations and responsibilities for this role beyond what is listed below are:

-Prepares and manages IS/Digital related budgets, provides and input into operating and capital projects, including partnership services agreements and charge back funding.

-Participates in 24/7 on-call support as manager escalation

-Works extended hours and weekends, as needed for special projects and necessary off hours work

This role reports into the Director of Clinical Information Services in the Information Services department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Responsible for leading a team of Digital professionals in designated specialty/area. Within specialty, contributes to decisions related to how digital resources and processes are implemented, maintained and optimized

Essential Functions:

- Works with Digital director(s) and other senior leaders to establish the Digital team’s goals and objectives, often participating in the definition of work products and timelines.
- Manages the day-to-day activities of a team of Digital professionals. Focuses on producing the team’s deliverables on-time and within budget.
- Employs service management, product management and/or project management methodologies to deliver high quality work products.
- Consistent with company policies, attracts, retains and develops high quality staff. Establishes and maintains a work environment conducive to high performance. Addresses the training and professional development needs of the staff.
- Interacts with clinicians, staff and various levels of management to communicate the status of the team’s efforts.
- Promotes and encourages a high-quality customer service experience for all customers – internal and external.


 

Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree Information Systems preferred or equivalent experience

Experience working in digital specialty/area that the management position oversees 5-7 years required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in project management, product management and/or service management methods.

Prior experience in the role of a manager

Proven ability to attract, mentor and develop staff.

Demonstrated experience as a collaborator, working across different teams/groups and with vendors to achieve results.

Demonstrated commitment to delivery of high-quality customer service.

Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization.


The hybrid schedule will be ~2 times/week and will be at 20 Overland St. (Dana-Farber IS’s office). ​
