The Manager Retail Initiatives is responsible for the planning, deployment, and execution of strategic capital intensive retail initiatives such as store renovations, new store openings, store closings, store relocations, and other strategic initiatives. In this role, the Manager Retail Initiatives will provide management and oversight of cross functional project development and planning through oversight for the execution and deployment of the assets by various vendors and store management across the company. They will be responsible for ensuring these retail initiatives are deployed on time, on budget, and to defined specifications.
ResponsibilitiesStore Setup:
Establish project scope, goals, timeline, project plan, communications and deliverables that support the project goals in collaboration with management and stakeholders.Effectively communicate project expectations to store team and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.Track actual project cost and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.Set and continually manage project expectations with store team and other stakeholders.Plan, schedule, track and report project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.Build, develop and grow business relationships vital to the success of the project with both internal and external resources.Conduct post mortems to identify project successes and challenges in order to implement an appropriate form of action for future projects. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and implementation.Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.Store Supplies:
Oversees the budget, updates, coordination and implementation of the field supplies program.Oversees meeting supplies financial objectives by ensuring field budgets are meet; manages annual budgeting; scheduling unexpected expenditures; monitors supply usage; audits supply spend results and analyzing variancesSearches for ways to continuously improve supply cost efficiencies and provide recommended solutions.Trash Management:
Oversees the company waste program, including: budget tracking, approving quotations for service, reporting and analyzing data, modifying service levels as required and issuing and reviewing RFP’s and competitive bidding.Operations Support:
Maintains and updates all SOP procedures for store renovations, new store setup, and closing stores.Support researching and validating field callouts and issues, problem solve quickly, and prepare plan for efficient resolution.Creates strong partnerships with field and cross-functional corporate business partnersRepresents the Operations Department in meetings, decisions, follow-up, etc. as it relates to supporting the field. Champions and demonstrates a commitment to Kirkland’s ValuesPerforms all other duties as assigned QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.3-5 years of retail management, project management, store setup, or related experience required.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.High attention to detail with excellent organization skillsAbility to extract data from conversation and documents.Effective time management while handling multiple projects in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment. Responsive, quick and energetic.Technology literacy including fluency with Excel, Word, and Power Point.Ability to work as a part of a team while also working independently, demonstrating sound judgementAbility to work at a computer for extended periods of time.Ability to travel as needed.
