American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) serves businesses, big and small around the globe, with an objective to become the leading working capital provider. We are seeking an individual contributor Manager to be a part of the team in Credit & Fraud Risk responsible for GCS's Small Business New Account Decisions. This team is responsible for the underwriting policies, onboarding process for Prospect Businesses. Within the broader credit risk organization, this team supports the success of the GCS business unit through innovative solutions that help enable profitable growth via acquisition while maintaining robust low tenure credit performance. This role will report into the Director of Global Commercial New Accounts, to work on an exciting growth area for American Express with excellent visibility to Senior Leadership. This team will partner with the larger credit and fraud risk organization, product management, finance, acquisition, customer marketing, legal, compliance and technology.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Be responsible for new accounts decisions for US Commercial Small Business Products from a risk perspective - this includes analytics, strategy, and capabilities, across new accounts and existing customers. Drive Core Underwriting risk strategies to determine approval and decline decisions for customer applications leveraging core risk infrastructure include risk models, lending capabilities and bureau information. Evaluate additional data sources to drive incremental approvals around the margins Partner with marketing partners and targeting teams to harmonize underwriting and targeting. Monitor and analyze new accounts credit trends and perform analyses to inform risk management and business strategies. Work with and influence Product, Marketing, and Finance teams within the GCS organization and broader credit and fraud risk organization to design and implement critical initiatives that enable prudent and profitable growth while controlling for through-the-cycle volatility. Ensure control, compliance, and operational risk mitigation in all processes and design for a streamlined user experience across customer touch points. Drive deep-dive analytics and partner with the Decision Science team to enhance economic logic that supports core risk management decisions. Actively participate in Global Commercial Risk governance committees as required and regulatory updatesMinimum Qualifications
This position requires a hands-on, roll-up-their-sleeves type of candidate who can delve deep into the operational details of the company. Above all, you must have excellent analytical capabilities with the ability to bring an innovative perspective to the strategic and operating requirements of the role.

2+ years' experience in Credit Risk management Strong analytical and quantitative skills (Masters in an analytical field preferred) A strong balance of strategic and analytic acumen, with a high level of intellectual agility and capacity for original and innovative ideas Ability to cope with ambiguity and complexity, while handling a multitude of projects and relationships Ability to collaborate and influence partners effectively and to drive large scale cross-functional initiatives Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present to and work with Executives. Extensive experience in the financial industry Willingness to experiment and learn Intelligent risk taker Implements and manages change effectively Team player but with the courage to share a point of view for the benefit to the organizationSalary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
