McCain Foods is accepting applications for a Sanitation Manager position, to work at the Burley, Idaho plant. The Sanitation Manager will provide strategic Sanitation leadership and support to the Production, Dry Storage, Maintenance, and Quality Departments, ensuring employee safety, food safety, sanitation, and cleaning requirements are met in accordance with all federal, state, and customer regulations, as well as McCain Foods' own food safety and sanitation guidelines. The Sanitation Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Sanitation Department, managing a team of employees and outside custodial contractors. Additionally, the Sanitation Manager will collaborate with other departments, develop budgets, and procure sanitation supplies and equipment.

 

Accountabilities:

Lead the sanitation department to ensure that all food safety guidelines are met while adhering to all human and chemical safety procedures.Support and execute the Company’s Food Safety programs at the facility in conjunction with Quality department. Provide input on sanitation excellence across the organization. Be the responsible project leader for all Audit Readiness Programs and initiatives in collaboration with various departments, such as, but not limited to: Quality, Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and Corporate.Work collaboratively with Quality department in all Food safety programs and audits and food defense programs.Support and promote the company’s health and safety program, maintain a safe working environment, and ensure continued compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and JHSC recommendations.Track and trend critical sanitation metrics to measure performance and achieve improvements while maintaining all standards.Lead regular Sanitation meetings with all stakeholders such as Plant Manager, Maintenance, Contractors, Operations, and QA.Be the responsible project leader for all sanitation shutdowns (Clean ups) ensuring completeness of the sanitation activities on time.Be responsible Project leader for all Sanitary design projects, improvements, and initiatives.Be responsible for the training and effectiveness of the HACCP Sanitation Manual and ensuring it is kept current.Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance in directing activities during sanitation days and daily sanitation activities, as well as working closely with the corporate quality department to implement new sanitation standards and reporting requirements.Be an active leader in the plant’s fryer safety program, which involves mentoring and training all fryer operators and supervisors to help eliminate fryer fire risk and improve overall operation of the equipment.Lead the Sanitation Team in safe working practices, including chemical handling, PPE, and WSNB requirements.Lead all aspects of MDI Performance management for the department.Manage Sanitation operating budget.Liaison between McCain and Contractors and Vendors for all chemical inventory, equipment upgrades and training requirements.Maintain plant pest-control program with Contractors and Vendors Ensure compliance with the McCain Foods’ sanitation guidelines, customer requirements and government requirements.Have a clear understanding of the manufacturing process and equipment function to ensure proper equipment sanitation. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.Annual performance management of Day Sanitation teamIncorporate sanitation goals into the plant continuous improvement programs.Perform other projects and/or duties as assigned or needed.

 

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training and experience is strongly preferredExtensive experience and knowledge in all aspects of cleaning and sanitation within a food processing facility. Prior training experience is preferred.Prior management experience is a definite asset.Project Management experience.Must possess HAZMAT certification within six months.

 

 

Skills:

Thorough understanding of principles and processes for providing sanitation and cleaning services, including needs assessment, quality standards, and evaluation of results.Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with SAP is advantageous.Basic knowledge of integrated pest management and pesticide application.Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in a food processing facility.Ability to comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and regulatory requirements, including chemical labels and OSHA guidelines.Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey information clearly, professionally, and effectively.A willingness to further education in HACCP certification, BRC requirements and Micro standards, etc. Experience with Sanitation Chemicals and best practices is an asset.Working knowledge/understanding of principles and processes for providing sanitation and cleaning services, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of results. Knowledge of food processing sanitation and personal hygiene.Understanding and basic knowledge of microbiology
