Position Purpose:The Service Manager will manage all transport operational activities at the designated site to ensure the effective utilisation of vehicles & service delivery, the management of customer expectations in a compliant and customer friendly manner.
They will represent the logistics interests of the company in a specific business market area and is responsible for the planning, administration, monitoring and optimizing the operational performance of all multi-site branch specific aspects (investments/resources).
The Service Manager maintains and enforces company policies, standards, and practices and ensures consistent implementation and adherence to the Company’s Mission, Vision and Values.
This role will be required to provide out of hours on call duties, on a rota basis as required.
Key Job Activities:The Service Manager will provide strong inspirational leadership to the operational team at their designated sites, as well as playing a key role in the sites vision in continuous improvement and retaining high levels of engagement.
Ensure that company principles and standards are adhered to with respect to all personnel, resources, procedures and practices.
Lead the transport operations in line with appropriate legislation including ADR, H&S, maintenance, standard operating procedures, working time directive and ‘O’ Licence requirements.
Planning and delivery of operational transport activities through your Transport Teams, to ensure a high level of service is provided to the customer. Ensure adequate cover is provided to make sure that customer service needs are met at service locations as required. Oversee or identify, build, plan and review routes for driver personnel, ensuring efficient route density provisions, customer service collections and KPI targets are attained
Ensures that Health & Safety standards and training are maintained and adhered to according to Stericycle policies and statutory requirements.
Accountability for overall productivity within the operation, ensuring that activities are cost effective and levels of resource are managed effectively. Budgetary responsibility for the sites, ensuring costs are managed in line with P&L expectations. Ensure that the site teams are engaged in supporting the financial requirements and goals of the business including effective cost control, supporting AR functions, revenue and profit.
Maintain communications and personal contact with staff, as appropriate, to ensure the effectiveness of operations support.
Education:Required Education: High School or equivalent
Preferred Education: Associate's or equivalent
Experience (EMEAA):Multi-site and remote Management experience is required.
Experience of managing KPIs and P&L.
Experience of managing and routing a multi-truck fleet.
Thorough knowledge and hands on experience of working at a similar senior level within a complex transport function, ideally within a waste or B2B operation.
CPC Essential.
ADR licence would be advantageous.
COTC would be advantageous.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to give clear instruction concisely and accurately.
Any wider knowledge or experience, including an Automotive Engineering qualification, Membership of a Professional Body or experience of vehicle maintenance workshops would be an advantage.
