Allegion is looking for a passionate Manager, Test Engineering to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security and access management. You’ll work on solutions that will enable seamless access and help keep you and your loved ones safe and secure where they work, live and thrive.
What you’ll do:
Lead the Allegion’s Test Lab in Farmington, CT, including responsibility for testing products against requirements or standards for reliability, performance, and quality.Manage the performance of Test Engineers and Test Technicians, driving their competency development, planning their career progression, and cultivating bench strength.Maintain a focus on employee engagement through coaching, training, and development of employees.Oversee thorough and timely validation planning, execution, and documentation for new Allegion products, revisions to existing Allegion products, and competitor products against customer requirements and industry or Allegion standards for reliability, performance, and quality.Oversee Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT) of products according to established Control Plans.As a primary product testing process owner, strategically assure capabilities of products meet or exceed the needs of the business, including appropriate planning, process management, staffing, and capital procurement.Drive continuous process improvement and operational excellence. Share and leverage best practices with other global test labs and ORT sites.Champion the value and appropriate role of testing among stakeholders.Uphold a stringent standard for employee safety. Proactively enforce all EH&S policies and ensure a safe work environment and work practices in the Test Lab.Manage the operation of the Test Lab, organizing and maintaining test facilities to maximize efficiency and eliminate waste.Serve customers including but not limited to: Codes and Product Compliance, Quality Assurance, Product Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Procurement, Marketing, and outside suppliers.What you need to succeed:
Experience in electromechanical product testing, including Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), preferably in the security or access control industryExperience leading teams of technical personnelExperience managing technical projects to successful conclusionWorking knowledge of Reliability Engineering, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Accelerated Testing, and Failure Recording, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS).Familiarity with Statistics, including Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Weibull (life data) Analysis, and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)BS degree in engineering or related science requiredA minimum of five years' experience leading teams preferredExperience in an electro-mechanical industry with a record of increasing responsibility and achievement requiredMaster’s degree is preferredElectronics knowledge, circuit design, environmental testing, instrumentation and measurements, machinery design, data acquisition, coding, mechanical mechanisms, stress analysis, material mechanics, CAD, manufacturing, PLCs preferredCertified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from American Society for Quality (ASQ) would be a plus.Allegion is a Great Place to Grow your Career if:
