The role assists Norwalk Director of Patient Experience to achieve hospital, and department goals by recruiting for high value, long term volunteers to improve the experience of our patients and families and to amplify the impact of our employees and medical staff. This role will be expected to construct a robust volunteer portfolio to introduce and or make more reliable, specialty volunteer roles like pet therapy, art/ music therapy, guided meditation in addition to traditional supportive volunteer roles. The first year goal will be to develop coverage options such that each inpatient (condition dependent) is offered one memorable and deeply personal volunteer encounter before they are discharged to home. Year one targets also increasing the number of active volunteers to 200. Responsibilities: 1.Responsible for interviewing, onboarding, placing and training adult and student volunteers. 2.Manage strategic projects within clinical units and areas that facilitate quality and patient experience improvement using volunteers. 3.Maintain effective, positive, customer service relationships by identifying opportunities for volunteers. Collaborate with department supervisors to create and recruit new volunteers. 4.Respond and resolve volunteer concerns and/or needs. 5.Manages onsite office volunteers for various departments. Assures materials are available to prepare admission packets etc. 6.Ensures volunteer are in compliance with mandatory training and documentation. 7.Creates volunteer roles that will have a direct positive impact for our patients and staff. 8.Expands coverage options of patient to patient/ family to family emotional support volunteers. 9.Expands pet therapy coverage such that its offered 5 days per week. 10.Ensures engagement of Patient and Family Advisory Committee meetings by leading PFAC meetings as requested by Director and engages to train and onboard new PFAC members to ensure they are able to maximize contributions. 11.Orients and oversees a volunteer coordinator. 12.Oversees Volunteer Management Software VSys, expanding use network wide to achieve workflow efficiencies including online application within the first 3 months. 13. Maintain and model Nuvance Health values. 14. Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance. 15. Performs other duties as required. Working Conditions: Manual: Little or no manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort.
