ERM’s Climate Risk and Opportunity Advisory team in Germany is part of the company’s global centre of excellence for climate advisory. We offer an exceptional technical and commercial team within which to be based. We focus on supporting our diverse client base to understand the climate risks they may face, and help them to capitalise on the opportunities relating to a low-energy transition. We are experts in undertaking scenario-based exercises to determine how climate change might impact our clients’ businesses, and we help them understand how to respond. We also have extensive capability in undertaking ‘deeper dive’ climate-related assessments, including site-based assessments and quantifying financial risk. Our work extends right through climate governance, climate risk and opportunity assessments, climate risk management, climate strategies, as well as corporate climate disclosure.

Our team of transition technical consultants leads work specifically related to changing climate patterns and trends, and how these impact our clients’ businesses. Across the team, there is extensive expertise linked to the assessment of climate-related data, assessments of risk and opportunity including the use of advanced risk assessment techniques, financial modelling, climate change mitigation, and reporting.

About the role:

Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of consultants working on climate transition-related services, including scenario analysis, risk assessments, opportunity identification, and transition planningClient Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions to address climate transition risks and opportunitiesProject Management: Oversee the successful delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and to a high standardClimate Risk Assessment: Analyse transition risk associated with climate change, including compliance with TCFD recommendations and emerging ESG regulations driven by disclosure requirements such as CSRDTransition Planning: Advise clients on how to align their business strategies with climate transition goals, helping them reduce emissions and identify sustainable growth opportunitiesBusiness Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, supporting the growth of the climate transition service line through client acquisition and engagement with ERM account managers

About you:

Master's degree in environmental science, sustainability, economics, finance, or a related field5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in consulting or a similar professional services environmentProven experience leading projects related to climate change risk, decarbonization, or sustainability strategyStrong understanding of frameworks such as TCFD, CDP, SBTi, and relevant climate legislationExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advise C-suite executives and particularly relating to packaging complex outputs into a digestible format and communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience through workshops and presentationsStrong analytical skills, with experience in financial modelling or scenario analysisAppreciation for energy and/or other commodity markets, as well as knowledge of energy transition scenarios (e.g. IEA WEO)Excellent interpersonal skills, such as the ability to manage and diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively in a team or with other business functionsExperience in managing and developing a teamExcellent German and English language skills
