Managing Director, Supply Chain (Hiring Nationwide)

Job Summary:

The Managing Director, Supply Chain will be responsible for planning, managing, executing, and architecting supply chain strategy and process optimization solutions, in close collaboration with other Management Consulting manufacturing and distribution leaders.  The position coordinates sales, delivery, and team growth in the marketplace.

In this role, the Managing Director will be charged with managing our pursuit, close and service delivery activities, including managing teams of professionals through all potential project stages of diagnostic, planning, solution design and solution delivery include managing engagement economics, accurate status reporting, quality control and legal risks to the Firm.  This role will be responsible for ensuring exceptional client service and high-quality engagement deliverables.  The Managing Director also spends a significant amount of time marketing and networking for new business, including identifying, pursuing and leading new business proposals.  In addition, the Managing Director works with Practice Leaders to build and expand services related to core market offerings of the practice.

Job Duties:

Engagement Management:

Drives professional, exceptional, high-quality client service Oversees, guides and mentors managers and staff on professional client service delivery excellence Takes lead role in preparing and executing BDO engagement strategy as project leader in consultation with engagement partner Serves as a high-level contact for clients regarding all questions and information, including progress, challenges encountered, and issues identified Identifies, grows and maintains strategic relationships with client personnel, including members of client management  Ensures the development of efficient and effective project plans and project controls Ensures client service team appropriately analyzes client’s performance through financial results, KPIs and market growth Ensures the client service team provides exceptional client service, and develops advanced level deliverables and/or solutions to client issues and opportunities Reviews and approves engagement budgets, and identifies opportunities to improve engagement efficiencies, where possible Ensures engagement metrics are achieved, manages the preparation of periodic and timely billings, and adjustments to engagement realization, as needed Identifies and informs managers and staff to utilize all available research aids (as practical), including databases and trade publications, to develop an understanding of client’s industry Prepares formal and informal presentations for client meetings for status and reporting purposes Leads MC strategic initiatives Travel 50% or more for project engagements

Business Development:

Collaborates with Principals and fellow Managing Directors in identifying, pursuing and winning new business opportunities Leads BDO pitch team, architecting solutions for upper-middle market as well as large global company opportunities Provides manufacturing industry insights and architects solutions for to solve client problems Oversees and manages team in responding to new business inquiries Cross-sells other BDO services (forensics, corporate finance, valuation, tax, due diligence, litigation, assurance, etc.) Assists with the expansion of Management Consulting service offerings Identifies expansion opportunities for the MC practice, and communicates such opportunities to practice leadership Works closely with practice leadership to manage marketing and business development activities within practice Oversees development of draft proposals and reports, and completes research, when needed Develops thought leadership for MC practice by developing whitepapers and presentations on topics relevant to clients and the profession

Practice Development:

Develops practical solutions and methodologies for supply chain consulting engagements Develops "thought leadership" and "white paper" documents Participates in conferences and webinars Publishes documents in industry periodicals

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Ensures MC Managers, Senior Associates and Associates are trained on all relevant software, practice tools and processes  Evaluates the performance of MC Managers, Senior Associates and Associates, and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development, as assigned Acts as mentor to MC Managers, Senior Associates and Associates, as appropriate Acts as a leader, and projects a professional, positive attitude toward client and firm personnel

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management, required Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Supply Chain Management, preferred

Experience: 

Fifteen (15) or more years of relevant experience within manufacturing operations, strategy, supply chain, and/or solutions delivery, required Eight (8) or more years of experience architecting, planning, managing, executing supply chain strategy, transformation, operations improvement, or digital transformation, required Five (5) or more years’ experience in management consulting or supply chain advisory, required Five (5) or more years’ experience in C- Level client sales, marketing and successfully managing multiple client pursuits and proposal efforts, required Experience with and ability to sell at C-Level with both private and public companies from $500MM to over $10B in sales, required Deep supply chain & logistics experience encompassing supply chain strategy, manufacturing operations, inventory management, risk management, and logistics and distribution, required

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, required Extensive experience with relevant manufacturing and supply chain systems (e.g., MRP, TMS, WMS), required

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.


California Range:  $200,000 - $400,00
Colorado Range:  $200,000 - $400,00
Illinois Range:  $200,000 - $400,00
Maryland Range:  $200,000 - $400,00
Minnesota Range:  $200,000 - $400,00
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $200,000 - $400,00
Washington Range:  $200,000 - $400,00
Washington DC Range:  $200,000 - $400,00
