Manual Machinist
**Job Title: Manual Machinist** **Job Description** A service and repair company for pumps and rotating equipment is hiring for a manual machinist. The role involves working in the shop to recondition pumps from the field, machining parts for internal pump components such as shafts, sleeves, rings, impellers, heads, and casings. You will be machining metals including cast iron, bronze, carbon steel, stainless steel, and duplex stainless steel. Responsibilities include running manual lathes, drill presses, vertical turning lathes (VTL), and knee mills. You will read blueprints to custom make job shop parts. The size of parts ranges from 7” impellers up to 72” pump casings and bowls with tolerances of +- .001 at least; prefer +- .0005. The role also involves running CNC machines, including DMG Mori NLX-3000, Amerisieki VTL, and Bridge Mill, with Fanuc controls and making simple edits at the machine. **Hard Skills** + Minimum 7+ years as a Manual Machinist + Experience with Manual Lathe and drill press + Ability to measure in 0+- .001 at least; prefer +- .0005 + Ability to convert fractions to decimals and read machinist scales + Blueprint reading **Soft Skills** + Willingness to learn and ask questions + Team-oriented with the ability to share knowledge **Job Type** This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 3 Month(s). **Work Site** This is a fully on-site position in Port Arthur, Texas. **Work Environment** Port Arthur: New shop, climate controlled, high standard of housekeeping, 30 total machinists. Majority of employees have long tenure with the company and an aging workforce. Everyone is willing to help and share knowledge. Deer Park: 45 total employees, mainly pump mechanics with small manual machining tasks. Day shift, Mon-Fri 7:00a-3:30p, plus overtime. Future shift schedule may require some evening shifts on a rotating basis. Steel toes, jeans, work shirt, and safety glasses required. Two classifications for machinists: Machinist 2 (less experienced, typically 5 years or less, pay $24-$28 dependent on experience), Machinist 1 (experienced, proficient, pay $28-$36 dependent on experience). **About Aerotek:** We know that finding work is hard, and finding meaningful work is harder.
