The Manufacturing Technology Development (MTD) organization is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer to play a pivotal role in bringing innovative solutions to life. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing technologies, processes, and methods to improve quality and increase efficiency for Ford’s future manufacturing operations. The role offers an opportunity to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment with direct influence on Ford’s next generation vehicle production.
Minimum Qualifications:
BSc, Engineering (pref Mechanical) Experience on a plant floor in a manufacturing environment Robotics programming, preferably FANUC Engaged, curious and self-driven Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential for success in this position Ability to work well with cross functional teams to develop consensusPreferred Qualifications:
Experience with Ford's specific quality data systems is a plus Previous project management experience Understanding of Ford finance processes (Ariba, iERP) Prototype design and development experience CAD design experience

What you'll do…
Ideate, test, and implement new processes and technologies to deliver quality and efficiency improvements to Ford’s existing and future manufacturing operations following a framework of Idea, Proof of Concept, Pilot, Implementation and Replication. Conduct benchmarking of existing methods, trending solutions and propose new approaches that add value to production processes. Utilize AI to amplify Innovation. Work with Ford Quality data to identify trends, analyze root causes of defects, and implement effective corrective actions. Perform rapid physical and digital prototyping to test technology solutions and new processes. Prepare and deliver technical presentation and demonstration for team reviews, MTD SAR meetings, and executive reviews. Collaborate with teams at MTD, MP&L, VOME and other stakeholders to identify, define, and validate requirements and KPIs for concept development through implementation.
