Job Summary

As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team you will be reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer and your role will be to support the day to day Operations Team within the Value Stream. 

Job Responsibilities Provide day to day support to manufacturing operations. Develop and Document Manufacturing Standard Work Instructions and Implementation. Responsible for development of manufacturing process improvements and implementation in order to reduce product defects and/or increase product throughput. Focus on process robustness through the use of process control measures (SPC / Cpk). Lead structure problem solving projects linked to day-day manufacturing issues, demonstrating yield improvement. Take responsibility for updating manufacturing documentation to maintain configuration control and manage Point of Introduction activities. Provide Concessions / MRB (Material Review Board) support to steady state programs and lead improvements to eliminate Customer Escapes by deploying robust Root Cause and Corrective Action. Ensure process compliance with any productivity improvements within the value stream. Management of small capital and tooling projects within the value stream. Coordinating process improvement, cost reduction and/or defect reduction projects. This includes using Lean Manufacturing techniques as well as Process Validation, Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving skills to eliminate manufacturing and quality issues. Participate in risk assessments within the value stream and support actions that arise. Develop strong internal relationships with team members and other cross functionally in order to support business objectives.

 

Job Qualifications Bachelor degree science or engineering fields Physics, Chemistry, Aerospace, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. Will consider Associates degree in engineering and 4 years of professional experience in manufacturing, in lieu of Bachelors.  Three (3) years in manufacturing engineering environment with working knowledge in statistical process controls, mechanical engineering drawings, tool design, and manufacturing machinery troubleshooting and maintenance US Citizenship per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

Strong background/experience in concessions / MRB and in providing frontline support to manufacturing operations. Strong demonstrable experience of problem solving techniques e.g. 5 why’s, 8D, DMAIC. Bachelor degree science or engineering Experience in process control awareness is preferred. Must be able to obtain/maintain Security Clearance. Good reporting and communication skills on project status and progress, lead effectively at all levels within an organization and be flexible in your approach. Multi-tasking and dynamic capacity. Ability to use MicrosoftTM Excel for data analysis and other OfficeTM suite tools for reporting purposes. Experience working with customer specifications and standards. Additional experience in the application of lean tools in a production environment. Experience within glass processing and / or laminating industry.
