Manufacturing Engineer, Instrumentation
JOB OBJECTIVE: This engineering role will work with R&D, Project Management, QA/RA and Manufacturing to improve the design of our instruments for manufacturability and serviceability, own the design transfer process, and improve the quality and efficiency of manufacturing. CORE DUTIES: 1. Participate in the design and review of instrument designs to maximize their manufacturability and serviceability. 2. Assist production with problems encountered during the assembly and test process. 3. Execute design changes (ECOs) required by obsolescence of instrument components or by changes in regulations. 4. Participate in the Materials Review Board to help determine the disposition of non-conforming raw materials. 5. Participate in evaluation and interaction with suppliers. 6. Identify and propose design changes to reduce instrument COGS. 7. Lead and be the key contributor to the design transfer process for our instrument products. 8. Test specification and verification. 9. Test process troubleshooting, device debugging and NCR resolution. 10. PCBA failure mode diagnostic and Disposition. 11. Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing processes and tools to increase quality, reduce lead times, and reduce costs. 12. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: 1. B.S. degree in Engineering discipline. 2. 3+ years minimum experience as a manufacturing engineer in the field of electro- mechanical devices. 3. Experience with machined/molded parts and electrical components. 4. Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T. 5. Strong experience applying lean manufacturing and continuous improvement 6. Experience working in a regulated environment. 7. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and experience applying these skills to resolve potential issues. 8. Ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines. 9. Proven track record of producing high quality products. 10. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. 11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. 2. Experience with ISO 9000 / 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820. 3. Proficiency in SolidWorks. 4. Experience in the life science instrument industry. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Ability to observe and inspect equipment and operations for proper operation and compliance to safety and housekeeping standards. 2. Ability to work in a production environment around automated equipment. 3. Ability to work in an office environment utilizing a computer workstation. 4.
