Position Overview:

As part of the talented Investment Casting Propellers team, you will be the wax and shell departments which includes two different production lines. The wax and shell room Engineer will work closely with our internal subject matter expert to fully understand our operations and customer needs.

Essential Functions:

Process ownership of steel investment casting process for wax pattern and ceramic shellingDevelop new and refine existing wax, shell and pouring processes and reduce scrap, rework and product costAssists in the control of quality and productivity while maintaining good housekeeping and safety standards on a continual basisWorks in tandem with supervisory staff to meet production requirementsIndependently manage a portfolio of projects to find and fix the root cause of part quality issuesInvestigate, propose & manage large capital and cost reduction projectsPrepare and document work instructions to maintain ISO complianceWorks closely with all team members to ensure each task is completed in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with all regulatory requirementsAttends safety meetings and training programs and participates in plant safety programs as required.Act as a liaison between design engineering & manufacturing personnelWork closely with operations to best understand current and past practices and deploy and sustain process improvementsWork closely with vendors supplying wax, flours and sands and other production suppliesBecome the wax tooling subject matter expert and work to improve tools and inspection of toolsUnderstand basic robotic moves and how to work with controls technicians to make improvementsWork with the team to develop new products when applicable

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related fieldStrong mechanical as well as "hands on" aptitudePassion for developing and executing best in class investment casting processesExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to independently manage and prioritize projectsDependable, self-motivated, and engaged learnerAbility to interact and communicate with different job functions and lead cross functional teamsThe ability to read and understand part and tooling prints and modify prints using CADFamiliarity with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous process engineering experience in investment casting foundryKnowledge and understanding of GD&TAbility to lead DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) projectsExposure to Microsoft products including Excel, Outlook, PowerPointProgramming experience with robots

Working Conditions:

Need to be able to communicate effectively verbally and written via shift notes and emailsAbility to occasionally lift to 35 lbs.
