Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer ensures that production operations are ready to go at the scheduled start of production effectively utilizing lean methodologies to meet or exceed performance standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will work directly with vehicle manufacturing groups like Carshell Welding, Electro-Mechanical Assembly, Finishing, and Final Assembly in defining and optimizing plant layout. The responsibility will be focusing on the Lexington, NC to ensure successful ramp-up, on-going production and continuous improvement.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Align with your team on safety and delivery goals. Ensure space and infrastructure are ready for new projects or product launches. Implement business cases for capital expenditures like new tools, equipment, or infrastructure. Prepare production floor layouts to meet planned takt time and schedule. Drive tasks and project plans, guiding and following up with your team. Understand permitting, foundation, and regulatory requirements for infrastructure changes. Review engineering drawings and 3D models to understand manufacturing process requirements. Design/source tools, templates, jigs, and fixtures based on engineering requirements. Lead manufacturing improvements, process changes, and technology changes, reporting to a steering committee. Coordinate and communicate technical information across all levels of the organization.To thrive in this role, you have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment. 1+ years of experience in planning and supporting vehicle production launches and new factory layout development. Experience in the rail/aviation business, preferably in heavy rail. Strong project management skills, including developing project plans, timelines, budgets, and calculating ROI. Practical knowledge of lean principles to reduce waste. A hands-on approach to problem-solving and countermeasure implementation. Experience in new plant rollouts, ensuring timelines and budgets are maintained. Experience using complex Factory Planning Methods and lean methods/tools like 5S and 7 Types of Waste.Why you'll love working for Siemens!

The base salary range for this position in Lexington, NC is $89,300 - $105,000. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
