As a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Engineer, your primary role is to translate engineering drawing requirements into detailed product manufacturing instructions in a custom, make to order manufacturing environment. This includes development of item master records, bills of materials, and routings, as well as providing technical support to shop floor skilled trades.

Your Challenge:
Transfer of engineering drawing and product requirements to item master records, manufacturing bills of materials, and work order routing structure in Oracle ERP system, including specification and maintenance of standard hour estimates. Responsibility includes ongoing maintenance and ownership of same.
Develop product manufacturing techniques including tooling, fixturing, and processes for fabrication, welding, machining, waterjet, paint, electrical and mechanical assembly
Provide technical support to shop floor skilled trades in manufacturing techniques and processes
Process/disposition quality system non-conformances, including updates to work order instructions
Specify product shipping configuration, provide technical support to shipping department in preparing and packaging product for shipment
Providing input to cost estimates and providing assessment of technical requirements as they relate to manufacturing processes as input to new proposals for Sales and Marketing department
Initiate and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to product design and manufacturing
Development of standard work instructions, processes and procedures
Develop or improve production processes seeking out the most efficient and cost-effective ways to design and manufacture products.
Analyse items/assemblies for optimal 'make/buy' decision
Provide input to design engineering department related to design for manufacturability (DFM)
Ensure all work is performed according to the Quality Management System (QMS).
Takes every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of all employees including

Education of staff and the orientation of new team members
Reporting of any safety incidents and participating in the investigations
Initiation of action required to correct substandard conditions
Your Expertise:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a custom, make to order, highly engineered product manufacturing environment
Relevant aerospace, defense and/or related industry experience considered an asset
Thorough knowledge of a broad range of manufacturing disciplines including welding, fabrication, mechanical and electrical assembly, hydraulics, machining (including CNC), painting, and sand blasting
Hands on experience in fabrication, welding, machining, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems assembly and testing would be considered an asset
Experience translating engineering requirements into bills of materials, product structures, routing/work order instructions, including processes and tooling
Experience translating test plans/procedures into work order level requirements
Thorough understanding of Quality Control/Assurance concepts and principles in a manufacturing environment
Thorough understanding of workflow in a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment
Experience with advanced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, SAP, Infor, Oracle, or other. Oracle EBS R12 experience preferred.
Experience with Repair and Overhaul (R&O) processes for customer returned product
Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask effectively
Strong computer skills (MS Office)
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience working in a unionized environment
