Manufacturing Engineer

ARC Technologies LLC, a Hexcel company, is the leading manufacturer of radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) absorbing materials for defense and wireless applications worldwide and part of Hexcel, a global leader in advanced composites technology.

Hexcel is currently seeking a candidate for a Manufacturing Engineer - Composites in our Amesbury, MA location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Review and interpret customer specifications, models, and blueprints.  Identify risks in meeting customer requirements.

Manage product specifications, process documentation, and costing in ERP and MES systems.

Identify, validate and implement process improvements that optimize production efficiencies, improve product quality, reduce wastes, and promote safer working conditions.

Responsible for the specification, sourcing, qualification and implementation of new tooling and equipment.

Work closely with composites tooling manufacturers to optimize tool designs and modifications.

Cost products to support quotation of new business and cost audits of existing products.

Investigate and resolve production variances to support accurate costing and inventory management.

Troubleshoot process issues to resolve variances to internal or external quality requirements, costs or throughput targets.

Develop capacity models for production work cells.  Identify and mitigate constraints to meeting production targets.

Develop work instructions and train operators to achieve production and quality standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Structural, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

2+ years production experience in composites manufacturing or related.

Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office suite & ERP/MRP systems; Microsoft AX knowledge is preferred.

Ability to utilize CAD software to review part geometry & create tooling models, drawings & assemblies.

Knowledge of basic Composite manufacturing and repair procedures (as well as the ability to adapt these basic procedures to newer technology, applications, and products).

Familiarity with vacuum bagging techniques, autoclave processing, bonding processes and adhesive selection. Experience with antenna radomes is a plus.

Experience with Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement techniques; Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.

Regular attendance on company premises is required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.

Preferred experience 4+ years in manufacturing engineering with composites or related experience.
