Position Information:  

Location: Pontiac, ILThis is an on-site role.Domestic relocation is available for the position.

Role Definition:

Caterpillar Large Power Systems Division currently has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer located in Pontiac, IL.  This position is to support of the end of line test and flow benches critical for Fuel Systems components including process improvement, test, and flow bench technology planning (including flow meters), NPI program support, and capital project execution to achieve business objectives.

What you will do:

Functions as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within the major areas of EOL (End of Line) testing, planning, tooling, maintenance, plant engineering, releasing, machine shop, assembly, etc. wherever a specific technical assignment may be needed.Develops, analyzes, and manages Manufacturing/Assembly Projects. Works capital projects and NCI projects for new equipmentTrains new processors and develops training programs for Processors and Assemblers.Engages in creative problem solving to address operational issues including ergonomic/ safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, quality concerns.Works with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.Designs, develops, and implements the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation, and systems application.Coordinates, plans, monitors, and reports the activities associated with the flow analysis, design, financial modeling, and implementation of complex manufacturing group technology cells in an assigned area.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degreeDecision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience using the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. EXAMPLE: End of line testing and analysis of readings.Lean Manufacturing: Working knowledge of the philosophy, principles, and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.Manufacturing Equipment: Working knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update, and store them. EXAMPLE: Hydraulic and Electrical Testing Equipment for Fuel InjectorsManufacturing Processes: Extensive experience using existing product manufacturing methods, technologies, and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.Problem Management Process - MFG: Working knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies, and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.

Top candidates will also have:

Familiar or experience with Siemens Sinumerik Platform.Knowledge of network architecture and network management.Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies (RFID, MQTT).Knowledge of robotics (Best if experienced with FANUC).Knowledge of industrial communication systems such as Ethernet IP, DeviceNET, Profibus, Profinet, etc.Knowledge of Rockwell Automation Software Suite including but not limited to:  FactoryTalk View ME & SE, Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, and FactoryTalk Transaction Manager.Knowledge of Siemens PLC (TIA Portal).Knowledge of MES / SCADA applications (Best if experienced with Ignition).Knowledge of Vision Systems (Best if experienced with Cognex).
