Manufacturing Engineer
Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for taking over programs related to power distribution boxes (PDBs). This role involves creating and implementing new processes for new programs or products, as well as continuous improvement projects for existing processes. The department handles full assembly of components through an automated process, including machine verification and test systems. The role is approximately split between floor work and desk work, with a higher focus on floor activities during new process launches.

ResponsibilitiesDetermine methods of assembly for both simple and complex automotive electrical/electronic assemblies including testing and inspection operations.Work with internal and external equipment manufacturers to specify and commission manufacturing equipment.Determine plant layout for new equipment and ensure all utilities are available for the equipment.Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Manufacturing departments to identify root causes for non-conforming products and develop countermeasures.Identify and implement Continuous Improvement opportunities in assigned areas of responsibility.Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, and Packaging Plans for assigned projects.Participate and lead in the development of standardized work, job instructions, and operator aids.Work with the tool shop to design and build fixtures and assembly aids.Essential SkillsExperience working as a Manufacturing Engineer creating and implementing assembly processes.Continuous improvement experience.Experience working in an assembly environment, either single station or automated.Experience creating standardized work for assembly processes, including SOPs and work instructions.Automotive experience, with knowledge in molding, plastic injection molding, electrical assembly, and electrical assembly processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of molding processes.Experience creating electrical assembly processes.Engineering Degree.Work Environment

The role involves working on a team with five other manufacturing engineers, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Each engineer owns their own area or product lines, allowing for a high degree of autonomy. The focus will be on overseeing the Power Distribution Boxes lines. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring high urgency and a strong understanding of the automotive industry.
