Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in producing high-quality automotive components and systems. You will play a crucial role in examining equipment, processes, and operations to enhance productivity and implement process improvements in safety, quality, and cost. You will be part of a team of approximately 48 engineers, working under the direction of a Group Leader.

ResponsibilitiesPlan and implement machine and process improvements related to safety, quality, and cost.Conduct root-cause analysis and countermeasure implementation.Improve and update existing General Engineering Design and Process Planning Sheets.Prepare spare parts based on availability and mean time between failures.Initiate setup and process capability studies, establishing setup conditions for ongoing capability.Conduct internal trial builds and external run-offs in the U.S.A., Japan, etc.Complete work in a timely manner to meet established divisional goals.Support machine recovery work in difficult-to-solve issues (contingency planning).Interact with the design team to improve product design for lower cost and improved manufacturing.Develop process plans and capital acquisition proposals for presentation to the executive management team.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Engineering.1 - 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing/process engineering role (automotive/heavy industrial preferred)Experience with CAD software (Solidworks preferred).Understanding of basic manufacturing processes such as assembly, testing, roll forming, bending, metal stamping, injection molding, welding (MAG, TIG, resistance, etc.), and plastic extrusion.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious tool & die experience and communication with tooling suppliers.Experience with robotics.Experience with plastic injection molding.Hands-on ability or hobbies related to fabrication, working on cars, farming, etc.Relevant projects at school or internships.Work Environment

The work environment includes a large, climate-controlled manufacturing plant with approximately 2000 employees. The plant is kept clean and well-maintained despite producing a lot of scrap. The Manufacturing Engineer will spend 60-70% of their time on the manufacturing floor and the remaining time in an office environment. This is a first shift position, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Overtime is not common but may be required occasionally.
