Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Provide new product designs and tooling designs through interaction with customers and account management to create part designs that meet customer requirements and are able to be manufactured. Apply engineering concepts to assigned work. In addition, provide manufacturing line support and production engineering role support.

ResponsibilitiesClearly and concisely document both new and existing processes, including but not limited to: Press Brake part creation, Panel part creation, Welding and Spot Welding, Paint and/or finishing, Electro-mechanical assemblyGenerate part and assembly drawings from new and revised designsGenerate packaging requirementsAssemble job router packets as requiredTransfer customer part information into the CAD/CAM system and maintain accurate and consistent part information on computer filesGenerate fixture designs for manufacturing processes and inspection, utilizing CAD and 3D toolsActively work with Production to define improvements in work stations and processesParticipate or conduct Design for Manufacturing Reviews internally and externally with customersReview routings to look for the best manufacturing options and review bills of material to confirm accuracy and finalize shear sizesGain clarification from customer representatives on models received or DFM changes neededSeek deviations from the original designDrive Design Engineering process improvementsUpdate and recommend new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Train others on engineering standards, specifications, and practicesAdhere to engineering standards, specifications, and practices, and make suggestions for their improvementPerform MECR Processing, Time Studies, and NMR EvaluationEssential Skills4-8 years experience making work instructions and troubleshooting on the floorSolidworks fixture design and routingSheet metal cutting, bending, forming, welding, painting, packagingDesign for manufacturing (DFM) review of complex assembliesCustomer interactionDesign of experiments (DOE)Process observationTime studiesEngineering Change Requests (ECR/ECO)Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelors or Associates degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferred but not requiredAbout Actalent
