Job Description
As a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in machining, you will design new products, provide engineering support for existing products, develop components for new or existing products, and reduce costs for existing designs. This role involves working both independently and as part of a team. You will support existing production products, select techniques to solve problems, and make sound process and programming recommendations. Your work will include supporting Setup Operators who utilize vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, automation technology systems, vision systems, and quality inspection tools.
ResponsibilitiesSupport existing production products and technical assignments that support larger projects.Select techniques to solve problems and make process and programming recommendations using various machines and lathes.Develop and apply automation technology systems, vision systems, and laser QR etching.Develop and support quality inspections using tools like Keyence, Marposs, and Hexagon.Assist CNC setup operators and process ECNs, cost control, cycle time reductions, and task reductions.Procure new equipment and work on new product development and capability studies.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in weekly operational excellence team meetings.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree or technical school degree in an engineering-related discipline.Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing setting.Ability to read and write G and M code and a solid understanding of GD&T.Experience with Autodesk CAD/CAM software, with NX CAM being a plus.Proficiency in CNC programming, CMM programming, and CAD.Quality experience including gauge selection and planning, and CMM programming.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in pneumatics/hydraulics.Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD.Experience in quality improvement and industrial manufacturing.Strong troubleshooting skills and CMM data analysis/interpreting.Self-motivated with a mindset to find answers independently and a drive for new challenges and knowledge.Work Environment
You will join a collaborative team of 6 engineers, 1 engineering technician, and 1 process technician, all led by an engineering team leader. New engineers will be assigned to a product support team and will assist CNC setup operators. The role includes working on the shop floor, shadowing setup operators, and defining areas of responsibility. The schedule is flexible, generally running from 7:00am to 4:00/4:30pm, with the possibility of being called in at night roughly once a month. The work environment is dynamic, with busy periods in the winter and slower periods in the summer.
