Job Description
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide a robust response to production requirements and issues. You will support daily production meetings, work closely with the production team to drive all engineering actions across the machining/assembly line, plan and prepare engineering projects, and participate in tooling improvements and layouts with the tooling engineer. You will also be responsible for the purchase, commissioning, capability, and debugging of new equipment, including participating in machine witness at the vendor. Additionally, you will lead the machining of prototype parts and liaise with the Product Team, MEO, Production Team, and suppliers to develop optimum processes.
ResponsibilitiesSupport daily production meetings and drive engineering actions across the machining/assembly line.Plan and prepare engineering projects.Participate in tooling improvements and layouts with the tooling engineer.Purchase, commission, and debug new equipment, including participating in machine witness at the vendor.Lead the machining of prototype parts.Liaise with the Product Team, MEO, Production Team, and suppliers to develop optimum processes.Manage the development of processes to support prototype program delivery schedules.Provide requirements for new model launch timing and metrics, such as PTR runs.Liaise with external suppliers in support of project work.Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.Develop action plans to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal and supplier processes.Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Vehicle Operations guidelines.Essential Skills2+ years of related experience in engineering.Experience with manufacturing process development.Ability to implement continuous improvement strategies using techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, 8D, and 5Why.B.S. in an engineering field.Additional Skills & QualificationsLean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.8D and 5Why corrective action and problem-solving skills.Experience with Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience.Experience with TQM, PPAP, and DOEs.Visual Factory Management experience.Ergonomic analysis knowledge and experience.Effective oral and written communication skills.Work Environment
The work environment is a manufacturing setting with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 7am - 4pm, located at our client's plant.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00
