Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead and participate in comprehensive Design for Manufacturing/Design for Service activities from initiation through R&D implementation of recommended design changes. This role involves developing strategic manufacturing processes for new product introductions, evaluating existing manufacturing processes, and driving product and process improvements.

ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive Design for Manufacturing/Design for Service activities from initiation through R&D implementation of recommended design changes.Develop strategic manufacturing processes in support of new product introductions.Create and utilize manufacturing process capacity models.Participate in and/or lead technical teams as required.Define, specify, and communicate expectations for quality outcomes through standardized quality specifications and work instructions.Research, evaluate, justify, and recommend capital equipment for manufacturing processes.Evaluate existing manufacturing processes for complex product hardware and collaborate with both internal and external partners to plan and implement product and process improvements.Analyze product quality data to identify opportunities for improved product quality and cost reduction.Conduct failure analysis to identify component-level failures and design data-driven plans to address these failures.Assist in identifying and qualifying new mechanical component suppliers.Evaluate existing mechanical components for cost reduction, supply assurance, and quality improvement opportunities.Use Design of Experiments, 8-D, and other formal failure analysis techniques.Prepare and conduct effective presentations.Provide internal and contract manufacturing support.Essential Skills5+ years’ experience in a technology-driven industry, preferably with low-volume/high-mix/high complexity products.Experience in electronics, RF, and communication devices in manufacturing.Proficiency in root cause analysis, process improvement, and corrective action plans.Experience in driving product and process cost reduction activities.Experience performing failure analysis of complex systems and components.Proficiency with Creo and/or SolidWorks.Ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.Ability to work independently and demonstrate a track record of delivering results in a dynamic technical environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsBS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Material Sciences Engineering.Experience in sustaining programs and handling root cause and corrective actions.Experience in data management and process engineering.Internal and contract manufacturing support experience.Ability to prepare and conduct effective presentations.Work Environment

This is a contract-to-hire role with an aerospace communications company in Wichita. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM, in an engineering office setting. The position may require up to 15% domestic and international travel.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00
