Job Description
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing new and revised product/process activities and supporting production operations by troubleshooting and resolving machine and process issues. You will collect and interpret engineering data, investigate new technologies, and apply Lean Manufacturing philosophies to improve processes.
ResponsibilitiesImplement new and revised product/process activities.Support production operations by troubleshooting and resolving machine and process problems, including chip control, machine crash recovery, stability, capability, short stoppages, and recurring machine operation issues.Collect and interpret engineering data such as machine cycle time, motion analysis, capacity planning, tooling design, ergonomics, process layout, and cost reduction.Investigate and introduce new technologies into the business.Resolve problems systematically using appropriate problem-solving tools and techniques such as 5-Why, 8-D, D.O.E., capability studies, etc.Apply Lean Manufacturing philosophies including value stream maps, standardized work, JIT, PDCA, 5S, SPC, etc.Work with vendors to determine product specifications, support the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.Lead investigations and make recommendations for cost reduction activities related to man, machine, methods, and materials.Essential SkillsMachiningContinuous improvementProcess engineeringProcess improvementCNC machining and tooling experienceHands-on machine experiencePLC and HMI control system knowledgeBlueprint readingFanuc robotsToolingHeat treat knowledgeG-code programmingMicrometerGage R&RGagesAutoCADKaizenRoot cause analysisJIT5SISOIATFAdditional Skills & QualificationsIdeally 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environmentBachelor's degree in Engineering field - Mechanical or Electrical preferredProficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Access)Experience with CNC machine tool programming and/or Fanuc robot programmingHeat treat knowledge is a plusWork Environment
You will spend 90% of your first year on the floor and 10% at your desk, eventually transitioning to a 60/40 floor/desk split. The work environment is a manufacturing setting for ATVs and automotive parts with a large machine shop feel. Your main customers will be Honda, Toyota, and Suzuki. You will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required on the floor. The environment can be hot and dirty, and there are 145 people on staff.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $39.00
