Manufacturing Engineer
**Duration: 6 Months** **Job Description** + Applies technical expertise, commensurate with formal training and minimal job experience, in the production of products. + The work involves routine applications of proven, well-documented technology with minimal technical risk. + Selects, designs or recommends tools, fixtures, and equipment. + Develops manufacturing processes and procedures to reduce problems and cost. May develop and present manufacturing process training. + Recommends design changes to increase quality or reduce problems and costs. + Participates in discrepant material review. Participates in developing cost estimates. + Solves production problems and improves process capabilities. + May participate in presentation of test results and design reviews. + Interacts with other functional groups, vendors, or customers primarily on routine technical matters. + Interacts primarily with Production Control, Quality, Design, and other engineering functions. + Seeks guidance and approval of supervisor or project leader before company resources are committed to customers or vendors. + May interact with or lead process improvement team. + Prepares detailed plans, generally spanning several weeks, necessary to complete assignments. + May plan schedules for assigned personnel. Plans work to comply with project schedules. + Participates in the administration of technical procedures. Writes procedures. Initiates and implements routine engineering change authorizations. + Maintains cost and quality reporting documents. + Supports capacity model and lean initiatives. May participate in lean six sigma improvement teams. **Position Summary:** + The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment. + This role involves designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes with an emphasis on CNC machining equipment and industrial engineering practices. + The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, maintain product quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies. **Key Responsibilities:** **Manufacturing Process Optimization:** + Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods using Lean and Six Sigma principles. + Troubleshoot CNC machining equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, gear shapers, and automated robots. + Conduct industrial engineering studies, including time studies, layouts, and process routings, to streamline production. + Program CNC machines and analyze sequences for optimal operation efficiency. **Documentation and Standardization** : + Develop and maintain Standard Work, Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions to ensure consistent manufacturing processes. + Ensure all documentation complies with company and industry standards and is accessible for training and operations. **Continuous Improvement:** + Lead Kaizen events and other rapid improvement projects to address process inefficiencies and operational challenges. + Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to identify and implement cost reduction and waste elimination opportunities. + Utilize data analytics to identify trends, root causes, and actionable insights for performance enhancement. **Technical and Mechanical Support:** + Maintain and improve automated systems, bar feed machines, palletized systems, and induction heating equipment. + Ensure accurate setups and calibration of equipment for production runs. + Provide training and technical coaching to operators and technicians. + Blueprint and Quality Tool Proficiency: + Interpret and analyze blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to support manufacturing processes. + Use precision measurement tools such as gages, micrometers, calipers, and other quality instruments. + Review and act on CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) reports and other quality tools to ensure dimensional accuracy and process control. **Project Leadership:** + Plan, execute, and monitor engineering projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines. + Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes and monitor project success. + Document and sustain improvements through standard work and training materials. + Safety and Quality: + Ensure compliance with safety protocols and promote ergonomic enhancements in manufacturing processes. + Drive quality improvements through root cause analysis and corrective actions, ensuring consistent product standards. **Minimum Requirements:** **Education and Experience:** + Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. + Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on CNC machining. **Technical Expertise:** + Strong knowledge of CNC machining (lathes, mills, grinders, automated systems) and industrial engineering processes (time studies, layouts, and routings). + Proficiency in CNC programming and sequence optimization. + Expertise in developing and interpreting Standard Work, Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions. + Familiarity with precision tools such as gages, micrometers, calipers, and other quality instruments. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. + Experience reviewing and utilizing CMM reports for quality assurance. **Skills and Competencies:** + Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues. + Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement methodologies. + Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and coach diverse teams. + Proficiency in project management, with experience in managing multiple initiatives simultaneously. **Certifications:** + Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred. **Additional Qualities:** + Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence. + Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and prioritize effectively. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field. + 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on continuous improvement. + Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement tools. + Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights. + Proven experience in leading and facilitating Kaizen events and improvement projects. + Excellent problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to drive process improvements. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. + Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in manufacturing. + Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) preferred.
