Leidos is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Engineer (T1) to join our Mechanical Manufacturing team in Huntsville, AL. This role will primarily focus on creating and managing manufacturing documentation, including Solumina process plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures. The ideal candidate will work closely with manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, and machinists to support documentation efforts for precision machined components in a build-to-print machine shop environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Solumina process plans to define manufacturing workflows.Create and update work instructions for shop floor personnel.Assist in defining and documenting manufacturing processes to ensure repeatability and efficiency.Support Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) creation and maintenance.Work closely with manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, machinists, and quality engineers to gather process knowledge and ensure documentation accuracy.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing and 5S projects.Support process standardization efforts across manufacturing operations.Ensure compliance with company and industry safety and quality standards.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field) OR equivalent experience in a technical role.Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and documentation.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.Strong technical writing skills with attention to detail.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure to build-to-print machine shop environments, including precision machining processes.Experience with Solumina or other Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).Familiarity with CNC machining processes, tooling, and workholding.Basic experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, or Kaizen.

Pay Range:Pay Range $50,050.00 - $90,475.00
