Manufacturing Engineer
Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for metal fabrication, welding, and machining operations, ensuring high-tolerance requirements are met. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient production workflows and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. Responsibilities + Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for metal fabrication, welding, and machining operations to meet high-tolerance requirements. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure efficient production workflows. + Lead process development and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. + Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of equipment and tooling used in metal fabrication and machining operations. + Troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, including welding defects, machining inconsistencies, and equipment issues, to maintain production schedules. + Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements for aerospace and defense manufacturing. + Perform feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses to support new product introductions and process changes. + Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians in advanced manufacturing techniques and best practices. + Prepare and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and control plans. + Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source high-quality materials and components for production. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. + 6-8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on metal fabrication, welding, and machining in aerospace or defense industries. + Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with CAM software for machining processes. + Strong knowledge of welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG, and resistance welding) and their applications in high-tolerance environments. + Demonstrated expertise in machining operations, including CNC programming, tool selection, and fixture design. + Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or similar process improvement frameworks. + Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex manufacturing challenges. + Strong understanding of material properties and behaviors, particularly metals used in aerospace and defense applications. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience supporting Navy contract awards. Work Environment This position is onsite in Columbus, MS. The work environment involves the use of advanced manufacturing technologies and equipment, and adherence to industry standards. The role requires collaboration with various departments and may involve occasional travel to meet with suppliers and vendors.
