The role involves evaluating, developing, planning, coordinating, directing, and improving manufacturing processes, with a strong emphasis on tooling and equipment upgrades and special projects. This position will involve collaboration with various departments to facilitate manufacturing process development and improvement. Responsibilities + Plan and perform complex manufacturing engineering assignments on various production lines. + Participate in quotation proposals by developing manufacturing concepts in conjunction with interested company members. + Participate in product and process development and design reviews; approve all engineering drawings and ensure smooth transfer into production. + Provide technical and direct assistance to supervisors on day-to-day operations, making them aware of manufacturing plans and assisting in achieving optimum results. + Coordinate with tool engineering on planning, design, construction or procurement, proofing, and release of tooling. + Expedite, control, and monitor projects throughout all production phases. + Conduct failure analysis in conjunction with cognizant company personnel. + Act as a liaison between supervisors and members of other affected departments. + Review and approve engineering drawings and documentation prior to release to manufacturing to ensure conformance to manufacturing concepts and established practices. + Investigate and approve design and process change requests. + Conduct cost analysis for cost control of designated lines of company products and conduct other special investigations and floor follow-up as required. + Recommend vendors and coordinate on vendor problems related to processing of designated line items. + Provide operational guidance to manufacturing engineering and technicians when assigned. + Conduct and participate in Lean Manufacturing activities, including 6S and other improvement events. Essential Skills + Manufacturing engineering + Metal fabrication + Process improvement + Experience with routers, bill of materials, process improvements, work instructions, production support, and troubleshooting + Metal forming and welding + Experience with metals such as Inconel, titanium, and stainless steel + Continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing + Six Sigma + Tooling + SolidWorks + CNC machining + ERP/MRP systems + Aerospace manufacturing Additional Skills & Qualifications + Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of experience and education + Three to six years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace manufacturing or related industry Work Environment The company specializes in high-pressure metallic and low-pressure composite ducting systems for aircraft. The work environment includes a modest office space and a large, very industrial production floor. The company has close to 800 employees and a second newer building that houses the design center. The role is hands-on and involves working closely with production workers on the floor, troubleshooting, and partnering with various departments. Training will be provided by pairing with a senior manufacturing engineer. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
