Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for ensuring maximum cost effectiveness and reliability of manufacturing processes and workflow. They will help determine the methods and sequences of manufacturing operations for moderately complex products, machine parts, and assemblies, ensuring that products and processes meet customer quality requirements. Additionally, they will provide producibility input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification. This is a 6-month contract.
ResponsibilitiesEvaluate moderately complex manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers, and soliciting observations from operators/production technicians.Develop moderately complex manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, and conferring with equipment suppliers.Prepare written and graphical work instructions for the communication of manufacturing requirements to production personnel.Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production.May be assigned to special projects for a variety of products and processes.Improve manufacturing efficiency and analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.Assure process control and reliability for assigned areas.Coordinate input and recommendations and implement changes that may cross multiple teams or areas.Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements.Determine root cause of failure using statistical methods (e.g., design of experiment, statistical process control) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods.Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor standards, and material costs, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements. May also serve as liaison to supplier base.Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Present findings and underlying rationale to team, supplier, or customer.May maintain product and process database by writing computer programs, travelers, operation sheets, and entering data.Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements (e.g., environmental, safety, etc.) by studying existing and new legislation, ensuring adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Share specialized knowledge with others.Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Engineering (consideration for an associate's degree in engineering if they have 5+ years experience and all the qualifications).3+ years of experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer in a machining environment.Experience creating and modifying G-Code for CNCs.Proficient in SolidWorks or AutoCAD.Knowledge of quality systems and quality equipment for dimensional measurement including Statistical Process Control and Coordinate Measuring Equipment.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge/Understanding of Metal Cutting, Metal Forming, Metal Casting, Plastic Molding, Finishing, or Assembly.Work Environment
The candidate will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will work on a team with a couple of other Manufacturing Engineers. This is a 1st shift position with standard office hours, core work hours being 7:00am – 4:00pm. They will work cross-functionally with quality, design engineers, and test engineers. The work environment is highly automated with exposure to a variety of equipment and product lines, including hoses, hydraulics, pneumatics, fluid handling, gas handling, and many other systems. This includes support for a variety of industries such as aerospace, healthcare, electronics, and transportation. Benefits include 10 days PTO, 6 paid holidays, and access to Udemy after 6 months.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $45.68/hr.
