Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for the advancement of manufacturing technology, product introduction, Plant or Corporate strategy, and project management of large manufacturing projects at a plant or corporate level. Work closely with other manufacturing and non-manufacturing functions such as product engineering, quality engineering, purchasing, safety, environmental, industrial design, accounting, other plant functions, and manufacturing management to develop and implement solutions consistent with the goals of the Company. Contribute to and develop short and long-term strategic Plant or Corporate manufacturing and capital plans that drive toward operational improvement. Lead, as manufacturing representative and contribute to the product introduction process. Activities will vary depending on project size, structure and phase but may include suggestion and evaluation for design for manufacturability, process investigation, cost estimation, schedule development, make-vs-buy analysis, prototype manufacture, implementation to manufacturing operations, preparation, and presentation for milestone meetings, etc. Develop and mentor other Manufacturing Engineers and Process Technicians. Provide technical direction and leadership to entire ME/MTC team. Work with manufacturing engineers, manufacturing management, equipment suppliers, etc. to propose improvements to operations through the implementation of processes, equipment, tooling, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies. Prepare or assist in project justification including recommendations, make-vs-buy analysis, layout, cost impact, and schedule activities as required. Demonstrate cross-functional project management skills to plan and implement capital projects. Research current and advanced manufacturing technologies and lead the transfer to improve operations.
Qualifications
Required:
10+ years related manufacturing experience. Background in process set-up and improvement. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to lead the discussion, meeting, project, etc., and communicate across all levels of the organization. Must be able to lead cross-functional teams, manage medium to large projects, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives. Requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technology or related. Experience with fabrication and/or fabricating processes Robotic programming, PLC controls, fixturing and design concept knowledge. GD&T and print reading Crown360 (SAP) experience Must be able to travel as needed to support both domestic and international projects (~25% travel and overnight stays)
