Manufacturing Engineer II

Job Summary

Successfully lead project and initiatives that support the profitable growth objectives for our Electronics Solutions division of Nordson.  As part of our Operations team driving operational excellence through our business system, NBS Next, the Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible to lead short term and long term initiatives that result in meeting and exceeding our key metrics focused around safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity.  As a leader of NBS Next, the Manufacturing Engineer II will leverage the framework to work closely with our production team and will provide coaching to others that are involved in supporting and executing these activities.  Under general supervision, is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of production optimization.    Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in coordinating process flow, production methods, and integration within overall production landscape including during product development or modification activities.  Estimates associated production costs.Assists with assessing product requirements relative to use model and suggests production improvements, as directed.Determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Develops and recommends continuous improvement tasks and tracks progress of actions as key inputs to task progress, as directed.  Tracks key process indicators for continuous improvement projects and production line health.May conduct feasibility studies on new and modified designs.Assists with Pilot production activities.Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.  Applies standard approaches to problems encountered. Uses professional concepts; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.May direct support personnel in preparation of detailed design, design testing, and prototype development and qualification.  Works with supervisors and engineering functions as needed.Implement and maintain Pull Concepts within Manufacturing, Backflushing, and Point of Use.Maintain SAP production data Integrity and Set-Up to enable Line Flow.Understands key business drivers and uses this understanding to accomplish own work.Utilize advanced Lean Six Sigma tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Kaizen events to drive process improvements and cost savings.Assists in the project management of new and current projects under technical guidance.Engage and support OTD, COPQ and NBS Next KPI initiatives to achieve Leadership Level Performance (LLP).  Drive improvements on other key production metrics, including First Pass Yield.Other duties may be assigned as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Bachelors degree plus 2-4 years of related experienceOperations and project management experienceHistory of increasing responsibility that demonstrates communication, teamwork and leadership skillsInternational/multicultural experience desiredMulti-Lingual capability is a plus, English is required
