Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will work under the guidance of Manufacturing Engineers to support the production of precision inkjet printheads.  Collaborate with engineers and technicians in a manufacturing environment that includes clean room and assembly floor areas.  Apply knowledge of engineering principles and problem solving to develop safety, quality, process, tooling and equipment improvements.   Document experiments and procedures with the opportunity to communicate to all levels of the organization. 

 

KNOWLEDGE:

Learns to use professional concepts. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.

 

JOB COMPLEXITY:

Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Builds stable working relationships internally.

 

SUPERVISION:

Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Typically requires no previous professional experience.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provide hands on technical support to a manufacturing production lineDrive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes using LEAN methodsImprove ergonomics and safety concernsCreate and revise engineering documentationCommunicate at all levelsSupport introduction of new products and technology into productionCreate and modify bill-of-material (BOM) structures Train production personnelEvaluate product and tooling to support Engineering and Material Review BoardMonitor and develop standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

Pursuing a course of studies in the Engineering discipline or other technical areaExcellent written and verbal communicationAdvanced math and computational skillsPerform work independently to meet deadlinesApply advanced reasoning skills to analyze and solve applications problemsOrganize, conduct, and summarize experimentsPerform statistical analysisUnderstand the importance of safety in the workplace

 

DESIRED:

Inkjet experience3D solid modeling and 2D drafting in SOLIDWORKSFamiliarity with engineering change process and revision controlSAP or ERP system exposureVisual Basic programming

Other duties as may be assigned.Each employee’s primary objective is to assure that the quality, delivery and cost controls within his/her control meet or exceed all of our internal and external customers’ requirements.Each employee is required to abide by the Employee Handbook and the rules and regulations explained and provided at each orientation and training session. Special attention must be given to the safety aspects of these documents.May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.
