Job Title: Machining Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Machining Engineer to focus on the continuous improvement of CNC Mills, tooling, and gauging. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth operation of CNC machines, troubleshoot issues, and support productivity and quality improvements. This role involves providing technical direction and oversight to both internal teams and external vendors to solve urgent and complex problems. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for analyzing production results to identify and implement improvement opportunities. This opportunity is a long-term W2 contract role that pays 1.5x pay for any overtime worked.

ResponsibilitiesContinuously improve CNC Mills, tooling, and gauging processes.Sequence operations efficiently and consider human factors such as ergonomic considerations.Ensure efficient material flow and high-yield productivity.Analyze production results and data for root cause analysis.Provide technical direction and oversight to external vendors and internal maintenance and operations teams.Support supervisors in training team members on proper gauging techniques.Monitor tool life and detect problems early.Analyze tooling condition and find opportunities to extend tool life.Work with tooling vendors to trial new tools and technologies.Troubleshoot machining operations and maintain processes.Support the development of continuous improvement in cost, productivity, and quality.Essential SkillsTechnical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines.Critical thinking and analytical mindset.Excellent analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of statistical methods applied to process control.Knowledge of quality systems and gauging methods.Knowledge of PFMEAs and control plans.Experience with AutoCAD and understanding of part and tooling prints.Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, off-shift support, and on-call support.Experience with CNC machining centers, precision grinding, in-line gauging processes, and precision cutting tools.Knowledge of tooling, including speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.Understanding of gauging, including gauge design, CMM systems, calibration, and sampling plans.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 3 years machining experience.Automotive experience highly desirable.Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.Experience with CNC Mills.Six Sigma Green or Black Belt desirable.A3 Trained.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
