Manufacturing Engineer - New Product Development

In this position, the successful candidate will perform the following job responsibilities: In partnership with the team leader, develop and execute plans to handle various assigned projects to successful completion, on time, and within budget in accordance with sound engineering principles. Support existing product changes through the following: Conduct formal reviews of draft ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders) with the appropriate departments and provide feedback to the off-site Engineering group. Determine production needs as a result of ECO’s and procure and implement appropriate resources. Effectively communicate and coordinate process/product changes to all affected departments. Support new product development and implementation through the following: Lead cross-functional project teams Coordinate all trials and Engineering requests for samples Develop/Update process flow diagrams and layouts Determine/Define processes and cycle times that will meet customer demand Determine and procure items such as line side material storage, hand tools and tool holders, etc. Manage ‘small’ capital projects such as: Equipment refurbishment / replacement Material storage projects Support manufacturing improvements in the areas of: Safety - Housekeeping, Ergonomics and Work environment Quality - Reduce warranty cost and other defects Productivity – Reduce downtime and improve cycle time.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably a BS in Engineering or related degree. Three years of experience in industry with various types of manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering manuals, shop layout drawings, and OSHA standards. Ability to write work area procedures, time studies, engineering technical reports and other related engineering documents. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees. Ability to work with large databases and identify and sort relevant data. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects consecutively. Must have sound organizational skills. Ability to identify and address project details. Knowledge of CAD software is a plus.
