In partnership with the Irish MedTech Association & IBEC our Engineering network within Pfizer Grange Castle we are seeking candidates for a Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship. This is a 3-year program combining part time learning and work placement, leading to attainment of Manufacturing Engineering Degree (Level 7).

This programme includes both technical and academic content with a key focus on manufacturing. This is an opportunity to join a world class facility who is dedicated to bringing therapies that will significantly improve patients’ lives.

Exposure to different engineering disciplines (Automation, Plant Engineering & Equipment Technology) with an opportunity to become an active team member of one of these departments during the programme.The Automation Department support, develop and maximise the control systems for manufacturing, utility and building control throughout the site. The team consists of both Engineers and Technicians and is responsible for the front-line support, system maintenance, continuous improvements, and project support. Automation personnel are responsible for systems validation and documentation throughout the lifecycle to ensure the GMP systems are kept in a validated state. The Automation infrastructure and data platforms including servers, workstations, controllers, networks, databases, and historians are maintained by Automation. The Equipment Technology Department is responsible for bringing in new equipment to site. From initial conversations with vendors, detailed design work, testing equipment before it is shipped from the supplier right up to qualification testing when installed here on site and handover to Operations. We also support Operations with investigations, continuous improvement projects, decommissioning of equipment and general technical support. Our engineers are Subject Matter Experts in various types of equipment and can provide a wide variety of support where required.The Plant Engineering Department is responsible for execution of maintenance and calibration of QC laboratory equipment and process instrumentation, ownership of computerised maintenance management system and governing site maintenance and calibration procedures, delivery of six sigma and continuous improvement program in Engineering, assembly of maintenance strategies for equipment pre-qualification, provision of reliability analytics and completion of FMEA on critical assets, management of site spare parts procurement provision and replenishment. Our Team are Subject Matter Experts in Maintenance and Calibration practices and execution, asset performance and six sigma analytics.The opportunity to learn about different manufacturing processes, technologies, engineering capital projects, automation systems, utility systems, commissioning & qualification of GMP and non GMP equipment.Work under the guidance of an experienced technical mentor who will focus on you, your development needs, and your academic path.Hugely empowering training structures.   Sports and social club, on-site canteen facilities.

Requirements:

You must have completed Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) Grade 06 at ordinary level in 5 subjects including English and Maths. A grade 04 or higher would be desirable in ordinary level MathsMature student with relevant experience and qualification route if over 23 years of ageCan demonstrate a keen interest in this apprenticeship during the selection process by referencing Engineering related hobbies and/or personal interests.Demonstrate Pfizer values: Excellence, Joy, Equity, CourageAvailability to start in Summer 2025Flexibility to attend academic block in Sligo IT (4 months full time per year) and complete industry experience on site at Pfizer Grange Castle (8 months full time per year)
