Engineering Intern

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: 354 Manufacturing Engineering

Position Summary

Plug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineering intern. The intern will be responsible for assisting the Manufacturing Department in a wide variety of engineering initiatives and projects in support of the co-op’s academic studies. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.

Project Summary

Manufacturing process improvement through the implementation of manufacturing automationDevelopment of the systems which communicate through manufacturing equipment to the manufacturing execution systemDevelopment of automation standard to be used in the design and procurement of future PLUG power automationManufacturing equipment OEE improvement to ensure maximum uptime and continuous improvement

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power productsWork with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze dataAssist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and managementUnderstand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projectsAbility to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliabilityDrive continuous improvement through all aspects of PLUGs manufacturing processWork cross functionally within an operations, supply chain, and engineering organizationRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assigned

Education and Qualification

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer, Software Engineering, or a related programPrior Internship or Co-op experience preferredPossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality
