Role Summary

This posting is for “2025 Wabtec LEAD Batch.”

Leadership Expertise & Accelerated Development (LEAD) is a prestigious program for young professionals who have a passion for technology, a drive for excellence, and share in Wabtec’s core values. The program is designed to accelerate participants' professional development through intense technical training and a variety of business-critical assignments. LEAD graduates have proven to be the vanguards of technical and business excellence and have track record of proactively and continually making innovative contributions to Wabtec’s future.

Responsibilities

The LEAD Program covers core supply chain and allied functions, namely, (1) Production / Manufacturing of Locomotives, (2) Production / Manufacturing of components for Metros or locomotives, (3) Quality Management Systems and (4) Materials & Sourcing / Services, which are essential for locomotive product & transportation ecosystem design. Students in allied specializations to these three key disciplines are also eligible for the LEAD program.

The two-year LEAD leadership program consists of four rotations in the above cross-functional departments (six months each). These rotation assignments are intended to provide an end-to-end physical or engineering exposure to the overall locomotive as a product and the overall transportation ecosystem. As history goes, the LEAD engineers have successfully contributed towards Wabtec’s growth.

The LEAD program is experiential learning program where technical and leadership learnings are imparted through (1) on-the-job rotations resolving real-life physical & development projects, and (2) advanced product/process study learning via class room sessions & assignments with technical experts / architects from various areas.

Program membership also requires continuous learning through advanced studies and in-house courses & workshops via cross disciplinary courses. As a part of the learning, LEAD engineers will focus on process developments in all the above-mentioned functions following Wabtec’s design / architectural standards, practices / procedures to fulfill the customer specifications. Some of key responsibilities are:

·        Result orientation to projects assigned to the LEAD engineers during each rotation period.

·        Plan the projects to meet schedules, budget, quality and cost constraints.

·        Propose and implement new manufacturing processes as a part of continuous improvement.

·        Collaborate with cross-functional team to set realistic & challenging goals and meet results.

·        Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and agility in coping up with real-life business situations.

·        Adhere to the SQPDCM philosophy as an improvement to business deliverables.
