Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Role Summary: This functional manager role is responsible for leading the Continuous Improvement, Process Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering functions of the Springville site in support of the site’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and all associated performance objectives. This role will lead development and implementation of manufacturing and engineering processes to maintain proper product functionality while providing improved costing metrics, and development and improvement of equipment to aid in manufacturing processes. The manager will ensure engineering, quality and production work cohesively to make improvements. This role leads all processes for the site’s manufacturing and process engineering teams to ensure compliance with all applicable customer order requirements, and standards, a safe work environment, employee development and engagement, quality process execution resulting in a quality product, and adherence to the project execution plan supporting on-time delivery to customers.  This leadership role must demonstrate and coach enterprise leadership mindset behaviors, facilitating a process transformation and cultural transformation across the Springville site. 

Location: Springville, UT.

Work schedule: Fulltime, on site. Travel is expected to be less than 10%.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership as well as strategic and tactical direction to the Manufacturing and Process Engineering teams in support of the Springville business objectives. Including cost reduction projects, improved utilization, efficiency and productivity across the plant.Lead site-wide efforts to meet and exceed OPEX objective, 6S, process improvements and problem-solving efforts. Drive the adoption of poka-yoke solutions where possible.Actively support the development of a vibrant Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture across the site.  Support the growth of HSE programs, execute improvement activities, and facilitate cultural change to drive achievement of all HSE objectives.Establish and maintain an effective team communication and performance management process to ensure daily visibility to team performance, confirmation of standard work processes, proactive and robust problem solving of deviations, and on-going coaching and continuous improvement.Drive the deployment of Lean principles to continually analyze and improve all internal QA and QC processes to drive waste out of the system, shorten order shipment lead-times, and deliver greater value to customers.  Ensure the team is leveraging Lean training and coaching opportunities and fostering a Lean culture through on-going Lean projects, problem solving methods, and daily work management systems.Develop a culture of employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, accountability, and job satisfaction to make the Springville site an employer of choice.  Attract, identify, develop, and retain organization talent in an ongoing effort to support the talent management philosophy of the site. Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, operations, or business-related field.  For internal FLS candidates, seven years of leadership experience in an engineered manufacturing business may be accepted in lieu of a degree.Strong root cause problem solving and analytical skills according the DMAIC framework or similar, with demonstrated ability to make critical decisions and sustainable improvements.Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and public speaking)Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with ability to listen, understand and lead others.Demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire teamwork, and to consistently acknowledge contributions by others.

Preferred experience/ skills:

Experience and knowledge in industry standards organizations and forumsCertified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or similar.CIP Green Belt training and/or Lean Manufacturing experience.
