Manufacturing Engineering Manager - OISL FLS, Project Kuiper
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Project Kuiper, you will lead a team directly responsible for building, testing, qualifying and producing next generation spacecraft. You will utilize innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology to solve difficult manufacturing and engineering problems on a daily basis, at both a systems and specialized level. You will be a critical lynchpin between the production, development, tooling, supply chain and quality teams, and lead production on the assembly line as well as new production introduction. You will provide vital manufacturability input to the design engineering teams for both new and existing hardware. Finally, you will be responsible for standing up new processes, equipment, and assembly lines to support Kuiper’s aggressive build ramp, making data-driven decisions at each step in the process.

Key job responsibilities
- Use knowledge and experience in understanding, collaborating, and trading complex inputs from multiple other disciplines (Electrical, RF, Optics, Thermal, Dynamics, Mechanisms, Materials, Tooling, Assembly, and Test) to guide the team and arrive at a viable approach for an optical system.
- Drive manufacturing processes improvements by reading test results and implementing SPC.
- Interface with facilities personnel in site development and all utility requirements definition.
- AIT takt time & cost optimization planning
- Manage team of manufacturing engineers across multiple shifts, expectation is that this role will be flexible in attendence and able to support on some reoccuring basis on a 'swing' shift from 10 am to midnight, including some weekend days.


A day in the life
This role will require a thorough understanding of precision manufacturing processes. You will answer for manufacturing engineers supporting the production environment. This is a leadership role for a highly collaborative individual that combines superb technical and analytical capabilities to optimizing optic assembly procedures for production and meeting cross discipline requirements.
