Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer or Principal Manufacturing Equipment Engineer for the Advanced Microelectronics Cell (AMEC). AMEC focuses on Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging. This cell has a large variety of manufacturing including low volume, high volume and mixed.

This position will be responsible for leading, systematizing and sustaining equipment maintenance efforts within AMEC and AFF (Automated Feed Factory). AFF is our new fully automated AMEC/SMT manufacturing line. The selected person will interface with vendors and tool control regarding equipment maintenance. She/he must be familiar with machine maintenance, but the majority of actual hands-on maintenance is performed by outside vendors and/or our internal union equipment technicians.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:

Daily interaction, support and collaboration with skilled machine electricians and mechanics providing them with systematic troubleshooting guidance on complex state of the art manufacturing equipment.

Successfully apply complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to expedite troubleshooting and repair of complex industrial equipment with integrated electronic, hydraulic, robotics, and pneumatics systems.

Communicate maintenance and repair efforts frequently to management and cross functional groups in a customer facing capacity.

Provide project management level support and leadership for maintenance and repair events and ownership over outcome.

Gain a solid understanding of complex machine system functions, controls and kinematics and communicate issues to stakeholders.

Develop work instructions for recurring repairs and processes.

Support capital equipment projects as needed.

Work with Manufacturing Engineering SME’s to develop Predictive and Preventive Maintenance Program for a variety of production assets to ensure correct reliability checks are being made.

Ensure all applicable documents, drawings and instructions are available for machine evaluation, troubleshoot and repair.

Develop and maintain metric performance, i.e., machine uptime, predictive, and OEE.

The chosen candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; and work well as part of a team. He/she should also have excellent prioritization, planning and documentation skills.

This req may be filled as an Engineer or a Principal Engineer based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for an Engineer:

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant professional experience (or 0 years with a Master's). Candidates with a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience will be considered.

Experience in a manufacturing environment working with industrial manufacturing machinery and production equipment

Able to work independently or in small teams using schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions

Fluency in MS Office software applications

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer:

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with a Master's). Candidates with a high school diploma and 9 years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience will be considered.

Experience in a manufacturing environment working with industrial manufacturing machinery and production equipment

Able to work independently or in small teams using schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions

Fluency in MS Office software applications

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of manufacturing processes used in the production of PCBs in the aerospace market

Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area

Troubleshooting experience PLC Logic (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, GE)

Thorough knowledge of electrical schematics and technical drawings

Prior experience as a maintenance or service technician on heavy industrial, automated and/ or manufacturing equipment

Electronics experience in a manufacturing, assembly and/ or troubleshooting capacity

Experience with developing and conducting classroom and/or virtual training

Salary Range: $75,700.00 - $113,500.00Salary Range 2: $93,000.00 - $139,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
