We are seeking a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering intern to join the Manufacturing Systems Engineering department for the Summer of 2025. The Manufacturing Systems Engineering group designs and implements equipment for the production of instruments and consumables here at the 10x manufacturing facility. This 10-12 week internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in designing and implementing manufacturing equipment using SolidWorks.
Interns will engage in a comprehensive learning process, from conceptual design to assembly and testing, while collaborating with various cross-functional teams such as R&D, Process Development, and Manufacturing. They will also develop vendor management skills, draft work instructions, and train operators.
What you will be doing:
Design a system using SolidWorks to accurately, reliably, and safely fill consumable containers with reagent. Collaborate with R&D to understand the product specifications/requirements Collaborate with Process Development to develop the process of using the equipment effectively. Host design reviews and receive cross-functional team feedback, and optimize the design for user friendliness Work with vendors and procurement to purchase the equipment Assemble and test the system Write work instructions and qualify the equipment Train operators how to use the equipment ensuring operators, understand any ergonomic concerns
Minimum Requirements:
Current student who has completed at least their second year of undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Hands-on experience required (Some form of fabrication, electrical wiring, or troubleshooting) Able to commit to a full-time internship program for 10-12 weeks during summer of 2025 Good written and verbal communication skills Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
Desired Skills:
CAD software experience (Solidworks Preferred)
The hourly pay range for the role is $33 - $35.
