This individual provides technical assistance to production support personnel in day-to-day production problem resolution; management of production improvement projects; tool design and procurement; installation of capital equipment; assist in training. This role requires a high attention to detail as the key position results include but are not limited to reducing equipment down time; & attaining higher production rates. This position utilizes strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills to identify, develop and follow through on a course of action relative to draw press and other capital equipment repair and replacement.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving productivity on the shop floor, including designing equipment for internal use.
Design equipment for internal use Manage projects, including the construction of designed equipment, to implement productivity improvements in the plant Update and modify existing equipment Design new parts handling equipment Modify existing parts handling equipment Spec and quote new machinery form outside vendors Use AutoCAD Inventor to do FEA Testing on critical assemblies Perform other duties as assignedCompetencies Demonstrates a clear understanding of policies and procedures of operation; complies with and applies policies and procedures appropriately Keeps current with and effectively applies new work methods, skills, and technologies to complete work Demonstrates the willingness and competence to work in multiple functional areas Plans, prioritizes, and organizes work effectively to produce measurable results Assesses situations accurately and determines appropriate action Identifies and utilizes resources effectively and responsibly Takes ownership for own self-development
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other related field from an accredited university 2-3 years of related engineering experience preferably in a manufacturing environment Strong AutoCAD skills Familiarity with PLC programming software, preferable Allen Bradley Be able to apply Lean Principles to the manufacturing floor Mechanically inclined Project management skills Must pay close attention to detail and have an ability to manage changing workloads Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Must be able and comfortable to work in a heavy-industrial environment Must be able to walk to work locations 100% of the time Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel and reach below/above shoulders to access equipment for repair Must be able to lift tools, parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted Must be able to operate hand and power tools without assistance
