Manufacturing Process Engineer

Role Summary:

This individual contributor role is responsible for manufacturing process improvements within a highly technical engineered-to-order discrete manufacturing environment.  The primary focus of the role is to improve manufacturing process efficiency and drive operations quality and lead-time improvements and manufacturing cost savings.  You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of our organization.  This role must demonstrate enterprise mindset behaviors, willingness to challenge the status quo, and facilitate process transformation across the Raleigh site.  Travel is expected to be less than 10%.

Responsibilities Include:

Utilizing the principles of lean manufacturing and process flow, analyze existing manufacturing and operations processes and material flows, identify improvement opportunities, and implement operational improvements and best practices that will ultimately result in improvements in key operating metrics (safety, first-pass yield, process lead time, manufacturing productivity, resource utilization, etc.).Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, engineering, planning, CI, etc.) to ensure smooth integration of new processes, technologies and equipment.In partnership with relevant functions, develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions.  Provide training and guidance to production teams on new processes, procedures and equipment to ensure successful implementation and operation.Identify and implement process control measures, including statistical process control (SPC) techniques were pertinent, to ensure consistent quality and reduce process variation.Participate in cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures.Actively participate in the development of a vibrant Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture across the site.  Support the growth of HSE programs, execute improvement activities within your scope of work, and contribute to HSE cultural growth and maturity across the site.  Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements in all process engineering activities.Demonstrate unwavering commitment to the Flowserve Values and Behaviors, driving a culture of high-performance in the way we think, act, and operate.  Maintain strict adherence to the Flowserve Code of Conduct and influence the same expectations across the site.Support a culture of employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, accountability, and job satisfaction to make the Raleigh site an employer of choice.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or similar).Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies and statistical analysis.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.Cultural sensitivity and adaptability with the ability to influence and drive change across various organizations and people groups.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Certification, including experience with process improvement tools and methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S and Value Stream Mapping.Professional certification in process engineering or related areas.3-5 years of experience in a discrete manufacturing environment where Lean principles are central to the daily operating approach.Experience in a CNC machine shop environment.

On site in Raleigh, NCStandard office hours:  7:30AM – 4:15PM, Mon-Fri.
