Job Description
The Process Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates process-related engineering activities in a safe and cost-effective manner.
ResponsibilitiesAssist with all capital and major maintenance projects.Observe, analyze, and document existing production processes and recommend design changes as needed.Carry out engineering activities to improve manufacturing operations, quality control, process control, safety, yields, and pollution control.Design reliability strategies for critical equipment and oversee preventive task execution to minimize unplanned production loss.Audit maintenance management systems (CMMS) to ensure reliability of assets, corrective and preventive work scheduling/execution, and cost visibility.Ensure equipment and processes comply with all codes and regulations.Develop and support practical and affordable engineering solutions for production problems and establish compliance with engineering policies/procedures.Supervise major installations and test newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.Supervise outside contractors and employees involved in construction projects.Observe, analyze, and document various plant activities to determine and support 'best practice' efforts.Conduct periodic auditing of all assets to ensure proper functionality and maintenance.Lead continuous improvement processes in all areas of plant operations and develop technical improvements.Manage the company Continuous Improvement Program.Develop and direct projects to improve process efficiency, throughput, and reduce conversion cost.Track performance versus budgeted cost savings goals.Utilize production data to prioritize process improvements in efficiency.Provide data and analytic information and coaching to teams and individuals driving improvement delivery.Register, track, and log policies & procedures that pertain to production requirements.Monitor and frequently test the effectiveness of controls.Support the full embedment of processes, including Key Performance Indicators (KPI) defined by the Business.Challenge existing processes to identify improvement opportunities using benchmarks and external best practices.Perform other duties as assigned by management.Essential SkillsBachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.Experience with AutoCAD.Heavy industrial manufacturing.Experience implementing changes.Experience with CAPEX projects, in coordination with the maintenance manager.Advanced knowledge in lean tools such as Lean Six Sigma, 5Why, and DMAIC.Strong data focus.Ability to travel to the Clarskville site as needed, potentially up to once a month or once a quarter.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with process improvement and process engineering.Strong understanding of KPIs and continuous improvement methodologies.Work Environment
The work environment is industrial and can be dirty. Day-to-day activities include focusing on processes, KPIs, improvements, CAPEX projects, project alignment, contractor management, and working with various equipment. The role requires hands-on involvement on the facility floor.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $62.50/hr.
