Job Title: Manufacturing Software Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Manufacturing Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving software defects across various platforms. You will work closely with hardware teams, various device software teams, and factory manufacturing specialists to ensure the quality and stability of our products. Having a keen eye for detail and the ability to effectively communicate technical issues will be essential in ensuring the quality and stability of our products.

ResponsibilitiesReproduce and analyze reported software bugs: Investigate reported issues, attempting to reproduce them in different environments and configurations. This involves understanding the user's workflow, gathering relevant logs and data, and identifying the root cause of the problem.Triage and prioritize bugs: Assess the severity of reported bugs, classify them based on their impact, and collaborate with developers and leads to prioritize bug fixes.Develop and execute test cases: Create comprehensive test cases to verify bug fixes and ensure that the resolved issues do not introduce new problems. This may involve writing automated tests or performing manual testing.Collaborate with developers: Work closely with developers to understand the codebase, identify potential areas of improvement, and provide clear and concise bug reports.Contribute to the continuous improvement of the software development process: Proactively identify areas for improvement in the debugging and triaging process, suggesting new tools or workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Essential Skills1+ years of embedded software experienceProficiency in C++ and C# for navigating the codebaseExperience in triaging and debugging, and creating a process for triaging and debuggingAbility to effectively collaborate and coordinate across teams to identify root cause and solve issuesAdditional Skills & QualificationsDegree in Computer Science or a related fieldProven embedded software development skills with LinuxExperience in multi-threaded programmingProficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++)Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPassion for software quality and a desire to deliver exceptional user experiencesDemonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with time-critical projectsMotivated to work in a quality-oriented innovative environmentClear understanding of writing time-critical softwareAbility to read and interpret hardware schematicsPrior experience with hardware debuggingPrior experience with developing software in support of hardware testingAutomotive software development experience with CAN bus communications, AutoSAR/MCALDebugging on multi-processor hardware architectureExperience with wireless technologies (GSM, LTE, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth, and WiFi)Experience with developing software in support of hardware testing using measurement equipment such as power supplies, DAQs, DMMsWork Environment

This role requires onsite presence in either Ottawa or Waterloo, working with the devices five days per week. The team is responsible for the software manufacturing, ensuring that devices built on the supplier end pass the necessary tests and are ready to be shipped from the manufacturer. The focus is on the TCU and ECG equivalent devices.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00
