Provide supervisory leadership, efficient management and creative problem-solving in department related plant operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned team to meet quality, schedule, and cost goalsProvide ongoing support in scheduling resources, technical leadership and facilitating the flow of hardware to meet customer requirementsSupport Team Leaders with decision making in areas of process improvement and/or production to make appropriate resource decisions (manpower, machines, methods) to facilitate the flow of hardware through the manufacturing processSupport process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns and reduce manufacturing lossesDirect the activities of an hourly team within the department and participate in department activities to meet identified goalsPerform administrative duties to support the business, including timecards, labor vouchers, self-audits, absence reviews, missing time corrections, etc.Coordinate all first line activities (i.e., Methods, Production Control) to assure the meeting of production schedules and customer satisfaction, cost goals, and maintaining the highest standards of qualityCoach and counsel team members regarding individual performance and development needsPractice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate the work forceReview production orders and ensure production schedules are being metAnalyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems and takes corrective measures to minimize downtime and interruption of schedulesAchieve highest safety levels in the plantExperience with implementing lean manufacturing improvementsEmploy Six Sigma rigors to all functions within the departmentMentor and motivate team in safety, quality, and productivity improvementsOther duties as assigned
Knowledge and Training:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of prior supervisor / leadership experience in a manufacturing environmentBachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering preferredPrior experience, in CNC Machining, Heat Treating, Grinding, Dimensional Inspection, Shipping and Receiving is preferredPrior supervisory / leadership experience in a manufacturingAbility to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and bring to successful completionStrong team building / coaching skillsKnowledge of manufacturing operations and practicesAbility to interact with all levels of the organizationAbility to counsel and motivate team membersStrong attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong negotiation skills and ability to lead by exampleSix Sigma training is preferredStrong propensity for excelling in a demanding environmentMust be able to support a 24/7 operation.Must have the ability to train on first shift (if applicable) along with supporting other shifts for coverage purposes as needed.
