As a Manufacturing System Design (MSD) Test Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
Developing Manufacturing Test Strategy: You will formulate a comprehensive test strategy to be implemented in the manufacturing process. Designing and Developing Test Systems: You will create innovative test systems and applications tailored for new product introductions while using company standards. Improving Key Metrics: Through your efforts, you will contribute to enhancements in critical areas such as design for manufacturability, cost efficiency, product quality, and safety standards.Responsibilities:
Design and Development: Spearhead the creation of automated test systems for new products, ensuring collaboration with program managers and engineering teams. Documentation: Accurately document test system designs and specify equipment requirements to facilitate fabrication and validation. Safety Analysis: Perform comprehensive safety analysis using tools like DFM (Design for Manufacturability), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) and JHA (Job Hazard Analysis), adhering to regulatory standards to maintain a safe work environment. Strategic Execution: Lead mechatronics design reviews, prototype testing, and the development of manufacturing strategies. Project Management: Effectively manage project schedules and budgets, aligning with specific project requirements. Communication: Keep program managers and senior management informed about progress, potential risks, and issues. Quality Enhancement: Work with cross-functional teams to improve product quality and performance, utilizing DFMEA and DFM best practices. System Analysis: Analyze and validate test systems through methods like TUR (Test Uncertainty Ratio) and Cpk analysis, ensuring root causes are identified and addressed. Software Development: Develop and validate software for test systems, including user interfaces and automated controls. Data-Driven Improvement: Implement data collection and reporting systems to enhance product quality and provide actionable feedback to the production team. Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical assistance for hardware and software issues, supporting both design and sustaining engineering efforts. Cost Optimization: Use VAVE methodology to identify and drive cost-saving initiatives. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex system and subassembly issues, determining root causes. Innovation: Research and develop cutting-edge testing technologies and methodologies. Goal-Oriented: Proactively respond to metrics and goals, taking the initiative to meet and exceed objectives.Qualifications:
Educational Background: Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Leadership Experience: Demonstrated team leadership in new product development with a proven ability to drive actions, schedules, and results within a cross-functional team environment. Workload Management: Capable of handling high pressures, prioritizing workload, and comprehending the impact of required duties. Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of both analog and digital circuitry. Communication Skills: Proficient in authoring and conveying strategies, specifications, and reports in a manner that is clear and appropriate for the intended audience. Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis capabilities and a good grasp of statistical methods. Practical Experience: Hands-on experience in building and troubleshooting automated test systems with six years of relevant work experience. Technical Proficiency: Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), writing test procedures and code, systems validation, systems analysis, and problem-solving. Agile Familiarity: Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and MIRO. Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory requirements like ISO9001, UL, IEC61010, etc. Software Skills: Familiarity with NI LabView and TestStand (or other test execution languages) and version control systems like Subversion or GIT.
